Bad service and low stock bleeding into other forums.

Festool is getting a lot attention lately on a couple other forums I frequent.

I just wanted to post a heads up that many have complained about poor dealer service and lack of product knowledge.

Also reading complaints of items still out of stock.

Just wanted to bring this to someone's attention.

I'd like to publicly apologize to anyone who has experienced products being unavailable. 

Likewise, I am sorry if anyone has experienced an issue with a dealer.  If you have an issue with a dealer, please feel free to send me a private message and I'll be happy to have our regional sales manager for that dealer sort out the issue.  Fortunately, if you find a dealer who does not have great product knowledge or lacks in service, we have an extensive dealer network and are continuing to add to that network.  Of course, there are many fine dealers who are represented here on the forum who would love to earn your business.

I think one of the problems here is that many dealers only have one salesperson that is knowledgeable about Festool.  That person attends the workshops and deals with the regional rep.

Now, what happens when that person is on vacation, is ill or simply has the day off?  Most of the sales people can retrieve a product they have in the stock room but what happens if you have a question?  What if you need to place a special order?

I personally think that is why our on-line retailers are such a pleasure to deal with.

I agree, I have visited many Festool dealers throughout California and have often been told that the "Festool guy is not around at the moment".

One notable exception would be Eagle Tools in Los Angeles. Those guys all know their Festool stuff, never seem to get sick or take a vacation, they're ALWAYS around and usually have EVERYTHING in stock. 

 

BUT, since Eagle Tools is about a forty mile drive (each way) I most often rely on the convenience of ordering from our trusty old Uncle Bob.

I think my main point of relaying this info is the fact that I keep seeing more and more interest in the tools.

Some dealers need to have some more competent people working for them.

In fairness to many of the "brick and mortar" dealers, they generally can't sell enough of a single brand to survive, so they must carry many. They don't have the time or money to completely train every employee on every brand, so they wind up with each employee being an "expert" on only a few. As we know, this is not the ideal, but they don't seem to have many other choices.

Minnillo's Restaurant in Cleveland's Little Italy is pretty well known and he is a relative.  In addition, Vanessa Minnillo who was dating Derek Jeter for awhile, and has been on many TV shows is a second cousin.

BTW, don't know manY who ain't planning on leaving NJ, once the time is right- Real Etate taxes through that roof and no end in sight. I mean like $13,000 + RE taxes for a 1 bathroom, 3 BR house on less tha 1/4 acre?
