Building things is a hobby of mine which I hope will turn into something more in the future.  I've built a few things - bookcases, computer desk for my son, etc.  However, this is my first cabinet/vanity that I built for my family - needless to the wife loves it.  All built with 3/4 birch plywood, soft close drawers, painted with Ben Moore WB Satin Impervo (simply white), kreg pocket hole screws for joinery.  All panels cuts done with TS55.  Toe kick cut by hand with a jig saw and a template I drew up.  I went to install it yesterday and couldn't get the cold water shutoff valve to close.

I owe a ton of thanks to everyone on this board who post their projects and ideas - it gave me the confidence to tackle a project of this magnitude.  My favorite art of this project was what I learned, which will be needed for the next two I build.

Excuse the curtains in front of the pic - it's sitting in our dining room until the plumber can fix/replace the shutoff valve.

Inset doors and drawers are a challenge to get right.  You did great!  Welcome to FOG!

Thanks all for the kind words.  I learned an immense amount, which is what I was after.  For finishing, I brushed two coats of primer, sanding b/t each coat (180grit).  I then applied two coats of the Satin Impervo by brush, sanding b/t each coat (180 —> 220 —> 320 where needed) and then spray a very light coat (homeright hvlp).

Looks really nice !

Did you consider European concealed hinges ?  I use them on inset cabinets.  The clean look is what I am after.

I would have matched the small door handles with matching medium handles on the doors instead of the knobs, and one long matching handle on the false front.  Assymmetrical symmetry.

Again, really nice job !

Fantastic job - You can be proud of that! I agree with you - the learning acquired is so valuable as well - each project adds to your skill and experience to make every subsequent project even better and easier. I also love this forum for being able to ask questions have have so many helpful replies. Looking forward to your next project!

P.S. If you like that type of look and projects, definitely check out Ana White's site and YouTube channel.

The handles and knobs were the wife’s decision.  I suggested something else to achieve the symmetry but was over ruled (all good).  When I do it again, I already have a better way to do the drawers and doors.  The toe kick is  5 1/4, which will tie in to the baseboard in the bathroom, hopefully giving the furniture look.  I’ll post when done.

Very clean, great build.  I'm super jealous.  That paint job is also nice and smooth.  Thanks for sharing!

Very beautiful build. I wish I could do that!
