I recently ordered my first Festool product which is the TSC 55 set with the track and i'm anxiously awaiting its arrival( ship date of April 23) from woodcraft.  It comes with two of the 5.2 AH battery's i was also looking at adding the TID 18 and T18 + 3 drill combo that comes with the 4.0 AH battery's. In a pinch will those be enough to run the TSC or am i better off shelling out the money for some more 5.2 Battery's. Im a weekender and a couple nights a week in the shop but getting busier all the time and looking to improve my tools. Also the T18+3 drill will accept the Fastfix Centrotec chuck correct?

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum.  [smile]

The 4.0 s will run it just fine.  Especially as back ups. If you were really cutting all day long then the more 5.2 or even the newer 6.2 would be the choice.  Also, you might want to just try the 4.0 when you get them. See how they are. You can always get more 5.2 or 6.2 after the fact.

My guess is that you will get a full day or weekend of run time out of one set of 5.2.

I just got the tsc55/t18 last week(actually haven’t used yet) but yes you can use them. In new and a hobbyist and I can’t imagine not having enough power.

Welcome and congratulations, tons of great advice here

Thank you both for the reply’s I figured I would be okay with them as backups just wanted to be sure. Currently using the dewalt platform and need to replace some tools so wanting to switch over as I need to.

In truth the 4.0 might be fine as the primary. Just depends on how much cutting you do in a day. I think in general you will find that you can do a lot of cutting before the batteries are drained.

Unless you are repetitively hogging through thick timber, the other two batteries will charge east before you deplete the ones you are using.

The T18 accepts the centrotec chuck, but you'll have to order it seperately.

I got the TID/ PDC set last year, and allthough they include the expensive right-angle chuck with that, they left the small centrotec out.
