So i'm surfing for used tools on eBay and I notice that multiple eBay vendors sell new Festool products at a significant premium - something like + 20%.  I can't figure why anyone would buy from them ?  Anybody else notice this ? Anybody know why ?

It boggles my mind why anyone would buy at over retail, when it takes about 30 seconds on Amazon or a dealer site to find out the real price.

I will often send a message to the seller, asking them 'what else is included?' or 'how many of such and such are you offering at this price?', just as an amusement to myself mostly. I did get a reply from one seller who told me they bought at retail and then marked up to sell on ebay. Thats a weird business practice!

I think many of the over retail sellers have no idea what it is they are listing, one seller listed a standard size Systainer, but their description said a Planex would fit inside, uhhh, no!

There are a number of other non-USA countries, in South and Central America and elsewhere, that use US voltage standards or something close. I haven't checked prices, but in some of those countries Festool prices may be much higher than in the USA, and/or lack a convenient dealer network for the brand.

I presume people from the Caribbean, Mexico, or  South America may purchase from ebay, and have the items shipped international, and possibly still get a better price, or quicker delivery than they might purchasing from their home country.

Often these are sucker seekers ... get an unsuspecting person to pay your price and simply source and ship the product after the sale to make your profit.

Ebay is the perfect platform for this style of deceit. Little to no cost for the hook and technically not breaking the law.

There are sellers listing literally millions of items at or above retail on Ebay these days.

Another thing I have noticed is, wiping the dust and dirt off your used machine seems to be too much for many sellers. Not only are many new Festools over priced on Ebay, but the used ones look abused. Why would anyone buy an abused looking used Festool  for close to the price of new. Buy from a reputable dealer and get a three year guarantee.
