Beeswax color

I'm interested in making my own beeswax polish. I intend to mix 4 part linseed and 1 part beeswax. Any idea if this is a good formula?

Another question is whether to use white beeswax or yellow beeswax. Does it matter?

A finish that I used with good results on gunstocks was raw linseed oil, beeswax, and pine tree turps in (IIRC) an equal parts mix. I used to apply it hot so that it would soak in. After many layers the guns were waterproof and appeared to have an easily repaired surface.
