Belt hook question

Hi all,

How does the belt hook attach to the tool?  From the pictures it appears that it simply wraps around the tool handle and through itself lassoing the tool.

If this is indeed the case how does the belt hook stay attached to the tool while your working?

Thanks

What is the belt hook you are referring to?  Is it in the Festool catalogue?  Will it hold a C12 drill?
I have a couple of old hammer loops that I used to hang on my belt when doing site work.  I could carry only a hammer.  I have seen plummers & electricians with belt holsters for carrying an assortment of tools, but those never worked for my work.  mostly form and scaffolding work.  For mason work, i had pants designed for masons with a million pockets.

Tinker, yea, it works with the C12....I'm just not quite sure how.

I looked it up.  I'm with you.  I don't see how it could work with anything but a hammer and then I have my doubts.  I see they are on special and only while supplies last.  Must be you and I are not quite the last dummies standing.  :P

Bill, I am not at the shop to muddy this one up  ;D  Tinker, if you don't get your answer by tomorrow, Trevor will get some shots and take a run at this one.

Today is 10 year olds in Football pads, laugh in the face of danger "midget football" around the C house.  It doesn't get much better than that!

There is a picture in the promotins flier, It loops through it's self and around the handle.

James, thanks.  That's what I thought.  Perhaps the flair by the ball keeps the loop from un-looping but I can see myself grabbing my drill and then either falling off the ladder or dropping the drill as I'm scurrying to catch the loop as it falls :)

It looks like a two handed job to unhook and a three handed job to hook it if you are on a ladder.  This looks like one of Festools more useless projects. definitely not in the fastest draw in the West class.

James has it correct.

One part fastens (via screw) to a ladder or pole for example. The cord loops through the handle and the rounded "ball" part clicks/sets into the notch. The other item is to use as a belt hook and the cord attaches the same way. Looks complicated, but is anything but.

You can buy the same thing from Amazon for a little less.  The color is the only difference I noticed.  I have had the Amazon version for about six months and love it.

No Tinker, it works fine. I have used it for 5 months and when you are on a ladder and need to free your hands it really shines. The loop fits really tight around the handle so it is a bit tricky to take it off ( I do that when I want to put the C12 back in the systainer)

Here you go Tinker, sorry it took so long. Enlarge the pics and you should be able to see it all in great detail. I hope this helps you out!

Have a great day my friend!

Trevor,  Thanks.

But to my original question, how well does the bungee stay on the drill.  If you reach down and grab the drill to lift it from the hook does the bungee stay in place or does it loosen up.  From those pics it looks like the loop is tight enough that it wont easily make it over the funnel by the ball.

Thanks

Bill,

The bungee is very tight and secure around the drill.

the bungee stays on the drill magnificently well. The ball stays put in it's hook. Never once as i walk around the shop do i fear it falling out of my belt hook. When i hook it too the ladder I can actually move the ladder around with the drill in the hook. The drill takes a lot to fall off the hook.

As for the bungees. They fit very tightly to the drill and the end piece is made of rubber so slipping off isn't really and option. It's actually semi difficult to get it off the drill because they fit so tightly. The bungees don't loosen at all (so far) and like i stated above even bouncing around the shop, the bungees don't loosen up. Oh and do remember that the kit comes with three bungees so if you only have one drill and over time they stretch too much, at least you have a spare. I've only had one in the shop for a month and it hasn't stretched yet. The kit costs $25.

I hope this helps you out bill-e. If you need anything let me know.

Thanks Trevor,
I was trying to figure how the drill was going to be hooked into/released from the bungee.  Now I see the bungee stays fixed and the ball sets into a socket. As we say in old countree, "clever people these Chinee"

When i inherit my first million and get myself a bigger shop, I will get one of those.  For now, no matter where I put my feet, i can still almost reach my drill. When working at my MFT, it is hanging on the wall within easy reach.  But it now looks like a good idea now that I see it in use.

thanks again
Tinker
