Bench Dog holes table vs Microjig Dovetail track table vs Aluminum track table

Hello!

First time woodworker *hobbyist*
As I'm setting my garage shop, I have the festool ecosystem and I was looking to get / build an outfeed table for my table saw and was wondering if Bench dog hole tables are better or Dovetail track tables are better?

Dovetail slots are more convenient, but they weaken the table top considerably. You could stiffen it from below, however. Dog holes give you better ability for positioning and registration. It's a trade off, and you chose based on your specific application. You can combine both into one table top.

Thanks.. Just for my own knowledge, If I sandwich a 3/4 plywood and glue MDF or 1/2 ply on top of that and route my dovetail, would that be strong?
I was also planning to do 20mm bench dog holes as well.

There are pros and cons to both. If cost is the issue then the Microjig dovetail clamps/tracks would be the most cost effective. Building it with aluminum T-track is slighly more costly and has many possibilities with add-on clamps and such. The bench dogs are great in combinations with bench dogs and the like but one major flaw for me personally is tiny objects like screws falling tru the holes.

If I were you i would build the base however you like but make sure the top is easily replaceable in case you wanted to try one vs the other. If you just wanted to try use MDF for hole top and plywood for aluminum t-track and dovetail tracks.

From the aluminum track vs dovetail track, given the ability to move the clamp around in the dovetail, it made it look lot more versatile.

I myself have both a MFT style table with 20mm holes. I use it to cut with track saw and it’s awesome, sanding etc. It also doubles as my out-feed table for, table saw, jointer and planer.Made it from a salvage sit stand desk that is electrically height adjustable.

I also have a micro-jig style work bench I use for glueing up and clamping.

If I could only have one it would be a MFT style.

Pretty impressive.
You are saying if you were to have one, It will be the one with 20mm holes and not the holes and dovetail track?
