Bessey auto adjust clamp uses - Kreg master

In  the video Gary Katz says these clamps have smooth action and I will tell you my inline clamp is far from it. It's smooth until you get to the spring stage and all of sudden it takes considerable force and then it moves a hair and frees up, better hope your fingers are out of the way as it finishes its travel. To release it takes considerable force. Enough force I want to use a second hand. I would estimate the "considerable force" to be around 30-40 pounds of force.

I suspect this an individual problem and not something with all the Bessey clamps or more people would be complaining. I have 2 vertical clamps and they are much smoother but still not what I would promote as smooth. So if possible, you may want to check your clamp before purchase.

nice video, thanks for posting..    gonna make one of those 90 miter saw jigs,    also great idea to use the clamping element dogs for the mft table

Eric, do the threaded knobs you are using with your bessey/mft clamps fit into the holes on the table or just tighten to the underside?

anyone else using or know of a useful jig utilizing a toggle clamp??

The knobs tighten to the underside.  I use 5/16"  t-bolts and knobs.  I just found on  my last trip to Woodcraft

a little larger knob.  I bought 4 of them and they are perfect.  The shaft is a little longer, so it's a bit easier to reach

under the table to tighten the toggle clamp to the MFT.

I ordered a bessey inline clamp (and a few horizontal  [big grin]) a few days ago, should be here monday.. i will update with some pics when i get it all put together

Eric, thanks for the info.. do you notice any horizontal movement of the clamp because it is not "pegged" into a hole or does it hold nice and tight?

Hey all,

I was laying out how i wanted to make my Kreg-tainer and realized that i never followed up here.

The Bessey clamp will fit on the base of the K4 but you will have to do a few mods to make it work

[attachimg=#]

The front holes of the clamp bolt right into the rear holes of the jig and leaves you with plenty of adjustability (not sure exacts but i know its 1/4-1 1/2" or better)

there is plastic ribs in the way of the rear bolts so so what i though i would do is this, drill out where i want the rear bolts, install a bolt and nut, pack some epoxy paste around it to lock the nut in.

i have been using it as is on some 2x stock for a deck and it has worked just fine.

a small area or metal on the bessey base will have to be ground away where you see the black marker near the rear bolt holes (you dont actualy have to remove quite as much as the marker shows)  this will allow you to still use the depth collar gauge on the jig

more pics to come when i actually get around to finishing it up.
