Best paint for on site HVLP spraying built in bookcase

I'm wrapping up a large remodel from heck.  4000ft2 house almost complete gut with a 3 month turn around deadline.  One of the last pieces is a 12' wall of built in bookcases. I purchased the LR32 kit and am very excited to use it for this project.  I'm looking for a coating with better durability than the usual oil based paint.

I have been reading a lot on here about Kem Aqua plus and thought this would be the ideal product but after a call to a SW industrial coatings store today I think I will need to find another product.

I need to match the off white color of the kitchen cabinets that are arriving next week.  Kem Aqua is only available in 5 gal cans and at $150/gal is way to much paint and money for a small build like this.

Using a Fuji Q4 HVLP.  Any suggestions would be great

It's normally sold by the 5 gallon - but they should be able to break it down and just sell you a gallon or two and it shouldn't be close to that price

Sounds like they are trying to hose you bigtime, I buy from the industrial division in Brampton, Ontario for about $55.00 a gallon tinted which should translate to at most $45.00 USD. It's not necessary to buy a 5 gallon pail.

Ya that doesn't sound right. I just got a gallon of KA+ white and KA+ clear and they were around $40/gallon. They didn't give me any issues about selling a gallon at a time. I just have to order ahead of time. When I buy more at a time they said it will be cheaper per gallon.
So maybe go into the place and talk to someone. That was how I got my initial answers from them.

I get my KA+ in gallons. I only pay around $30.00 a gallon for the whole line of KA.
I do purchase  the surfacer, sealer and clear in 5's.

Thanks everybody!  I know some of you do amazing work but after my call to SW industrial coatings office and before postiI was a little taken back there were this many people talking nonchalantly about using $150/gal paint and primer.  [smile]. I did wonder what insane prices everybody was charging for their stuff.

Decided to play dumb and call a SW retail store I use asking to order KA+.  Primer and KA+ will be here by Monday in gallon size.  With tax I'm looking my at around $100 so $45/can they will color match it in store.

Any suggestions or advice for a novice spraying this?

Is KA+ now available via regular SW stores?  Been wanting to try it out after all the hubbub here.  Advance cure time is too long, and Target's stuff has to ship...

I was down at my local S&W store, they were raving about the new Emerald Urethane paint for trim and cabinets.  Might be worth consideration but it's $90/ Gallon.

I’ve had success with Target coating.  They will match any BM or SW color and sells in gallon sizes.  It sprayed great from my Fuji as well.

I typically use pigmented target coatings and like the lacquer but have a hard time shooting the primer on vertical surfaces-need multiple build coats or major sag.

I just rolled out a media unit with the emerald-fantastic finish, dried quickly and was pleasantly surprised to find you could stack parts together without them becoming stuck together. (pics on mi insta if you want to see.) SW runs 30-40% off sales once in a while but you have to register with them.

Can you spray the Lenmar on vertical surfaces without having to do multiple build coats to prevent sag? I use an 1050 apollo and 30:1 merkur AAA

i personally would spray built in’s with an airless. I do know people using HVLP with the same products. As far as Emerald urethane I would prime first with S-W  extreme  bond primer followed with two coats of emerald urathane light sanding between coats. Or Benmoore advance has superior leveling qualities. Gives near factory finish and hangs very well. They both harden about the same and either would be great for your application. They are both very durable paints often used to repaint kitchen cabinets and can take the abuse.

Edit: emerald urethane tested a 5 on a pencil test which is 3 times harder then precat epoxy, and 4 times then advance or S-W proclassic
