Looking for some advice here on the best square that comes with or has an optional systainer case.

I am between the:
1. Woodpeckers
2. TSO GRS-16 PE
3. Benchdogs

I have the TSO GRS and absolutely love it. It fits right in the TS55 systainer so you don't need to dedicate a systainer to the GRS.

I keep a TSO square tucked in the HKC Systainer and another one in the TSC Systainer. Then the only extra thing you have to carry is a guide rail.

I just got the Benchdog model.  I have done just a few tests with it and like it so far.  It was just a few bucks short for free shipping, so I added in a couple of small dogs to push me above the threshold for free shipping.  Came in a few weeks and just as advertised. I did get the systainer with it to make it easy to store.  I have a few cuts to do in the next few days and if I use it, I will report back.

I should note that I also got it because I liked the mechanism to attach it with minimal potential for damage to the track.  It was also a bit cheaper than the other options.  The TSO will attach faster than the Benchdogs will and while there were some complaints about a knockoff of TSO damaging rails, I had not heard any complaints about TSO, but I wanted to be 'safe'.

How does the Benchdog version lock into the rail?  It appears to slide on with a key (similar to the guide rail hinge on the rear of the MFT3).  Since there obviously needs to be some play for it to slide on, how does the square self align with the rail?

[member=7714]promark747[/member], yes it attaches like the MFT3 guide rail hinge.  When I tighten it down, it seems to square itself nicely.  I wanted to test it a bit and I have an active project taking up all of my garage, but was able to use space on my table saw (right now more than a table than a saw).  I put on the Benchdogs square, tightened it up and then put it on the edge of the table saw table and put my triangle square against it.  No play at all and it went in nicely with no binding.  Now a few cuts would be a better test, but this was a nice quick experiment.  I will post some pics if I can get that to work.  Keep getting issues.

As mentioned and already pictured, our GRS-16 fits nicely in existing track saw systainers. We have also recently updated our Dual FoamPac Insert which is now CNC cut out of Kaizen Foam:

We also sell our inserts together with our limited edition TSO-branded systainer, pictured above, with and without the insert.

You might wanna add TaigaTools to your list:
https://www.taigatools.com/precision-rail-square-festool-makita-triton-rails.html

And — let’s not forget — Festool has licensed the TSO-design and sells it now as FS-WA/90° (# 205229 ).

OOPS: Did not consider the Systainer link. But you could fix that yourself w a foam insert.

Is there a link to the festool TSO version for the USA market?

Nope. Not yet available (or announced) on the US-website.

The Festool version, 205229, is available across the pond.

Wish I had waited to order these.  The version I received didn't look near this nice.

If you think you might ever need an angle other than 90 degrees, the Woodpeckers Adjustable Track Square has you covered. Available with or without Systainer.

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member] - would you really prefer a plain clear anodized matt finish as used overseas? - if there is enough interest we'll run a batch.

[member=59331]TSO Products[/member] - Actually my issue is with the foam itself.  Mine is kind of ragged looking.  Not at all like what you have now.

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member] - not sure I understand your comment. If there is any unsatisfactory aspect of the product you received, we'll replace it - no problem.
