Birch Plywood in Philadelphia area

I am looking to see if anyone has any information on a decent supplier in Philadelphia area (other than big box store). I am looking for either prefinished or sanded birch ply in the 1/2" and 3/4" full 4'x8' sheet sizes. I have not had the pleasure of Baltic Birch ply yet but someday soon, just wish it was easier to find it in full 4'x8' sheets vs 5'x5'

[member=74462]Wood_Slice[/member] howdy I'm at the shore. Any lumber yard can probably order prefinished for you but it'll almost certainly come from Fessenden Hall in Pennsauken and it's costly. Last I checked Fess Hall only sold to businesses direct. I've used Peter Lumber in Jersey, they get it from Fess Hall and delivered to my home.

Industrial Plywood in Reading has good pricing and lots of options but it involves a trip out there. Pricing was around half what it cost elsewhere.

Home depot will order in Columbia products, search "prefinished" on their website. Last I checked around $120 sheet for 3/4", picked up in store.

Call your local woodcraft store. They should be able to help.

No Woodcraft near me or at least within 1 hour of my location. Driving more than an hour away from a major city for supplies is bonkers imo.

Similar position as you, also in the Philly area.  Tague lumber quoted me $60 for a 5x5 sheet and $95 for a 4x8 sheet (all 3/4 material).  Waiting to hear back from a few other local lumber yards, but from past experience, most don’t seem to want to deal with small order individuals / non-contractor accounts. 

Not sure if you’ve found anything cheaper / local.  I have an SUV it needs to fit in, so long trips for a 4x8 sheet are out.

Only Woodcraft stores in the area I know of are in New Castle, DE and Downingtown PA and as you say neither is close to Philly but you can zip right down 95 to New Castle the home of tax free shopping from Philly in about 35 minutes.

None in NJ south of Trenton. Next closest is Allentown, PA.

New Castle is where I end up, it's 38 miles away but about my only choice.

There is US Lumber in Woodbury Heights, NJ but they don't seem interested in supporting small shops or individuals. Which is strange since they have plastered all over their web site how it is a women owned minority business, carter to their customers, yadda, yadda, yadda. But answer a phone call or an email they can't manage that. Tried multiple times over the past two years.

I just found them the other day but have not contacted them yet.

Sounds like there is a need for a distributor of veneer products that catered to the small shop/individual that offered delivery to your door. Maybe I should get my trailer and put it to work.

I just had Industrial Plywood (Reading) delivery 5x5 birch sheets of 3/4 for $43 and 1/2 for $30 per sheet. Delivery was only $25 to Bucks County. Great experience!

Industrial plywood is an excellent resource. They have all grades of ply. The best part of their service is door delivery. They deliver twice a week tue and thu.

There is Russell Plywood in New Castle, not too far from Woodcraft.

I've always gotten my plywood from Russell Plywood.  They are happy to deal with small guys and have a great selection.  I wouldn't go there for a single sheet, but if you're building a kitchen or something its well worth the trip down.  Particularly because I will usually then swing over to Hearne Hardwoods to get the hardwood.
