I thought I'd post this as it was an interesting project for me.  It took me longer to work out all the angles than to actually make.

The units are made of yellow heart, padauk and black palm.  The sides were made from 24" x 3" x 0.5" pieces attached via tongue and groove.  I cut each piece corner to corner diagonally like an elongated "X" to get a matched pair of two pyramid sides.  The lids are 0.75" yellow heart with rabbited edges, so the lids fit inside their respective box with just a thin edge visible.  Base for both units is 1" yellow heart, you just can't see the base of the nesting box as it is fully inserted into the pyramid (with edges angled the same as the pyramid).  3/8" x 18" stainless steel rods are attached to the patio post, and inserted into the 1" base of each unit.  For scale, the patio post is 6" x 6", and the feeder base is 9" x 9".  Finished with General Finishes Exterior 450 (semi gloss).

Those are beautiful pieces of work - do you have many Art Deco song birds in your part of the world!

Well done.
