Hi There,
Its been awhile since I have posted anything but always lurking. I just finished a Black Walnut and Curly Maple Jewelry Box for a client of mine. Did something different this time. I used the middle spline to penetrate the box and use it for the shelf support on the inside. It worked out great. Purchased some 2" solid brass hinges with the stop feature and they worked out great. It was finished with 2 coats of de-waxed sanding sealer 1 lb cut, stained with Walnut gel stain and 5 coats of spray Lacquer. The pictures do not do this box justice. Client will pick up in a couple of weeks. I used the following Festool products on this box. Ts 55 track saw, Kapex, Ro 90, Ro 125, ETS 125, Domino 500, Mft 3 table. Enjoy

What a beautiful box!  Very nicely done, and I think using the center splines as the tray base is brilliant.

what material did you use for the splines?  Is it maple?  I ask because the seem so white, almost too white for wood.

Great looking box.

Beautiful piece.

I really like the curved divider.  Just might steal copy that for a dresser I'm making for the missus.

Hi Paul,
I used Curly Maple for the top and bottom splines the larger middle spline is made out of birds eye maple. The flash on my camera makes them look whiter that they really are. One thing I learned on this box is Curly Maple is a light white with a hint of transparency. Where as the birds eye maple is much more white overall. It provides a nice contrast . The photos are a little misleading on the white level

I think it would look great, Post a picture if you do. Thanks for the reply

Lovely piece.  How did you cut the splines?  Some sort of table saw jig?

Yes I made a jig, watched a number of Youtube videos and worked out great. I love Youtube, you can learn just about anything [wink]
