My first Festool was the TS75 bought about 6 (?) years ago with two 36 tooth, 2.4 mm blades. I want to get another blade or two as I'm doing more ripping of chestnut, thicker poplar, etc.

So which ripping blade to get - I presume one of the "panther" types. What are the reasons to decide between them.

And I presume my 493198 blade was a 36 tooth universal. What is the equivalent today?

TIA all.

Ron,

How has the Universal been working out for you ripping thicker woods?

I found that the Panther makes a noticeable difference over the Universal (which I didn't like very much on the TS55) on the TS55.  I did not find the Panther  to make a big difference over the Universal on the TS75. I used both blades (new and sharp) on the TS75 ripping 1 3/4" thick birch including some dense heart wood.  A different wood or thickness might change the results.  The TS75  was on loan from Festool  and has since been sent back so I can't do any more testing.
