Blade runout on Festool CS 70

I have just taken delivery of a CS70 trimsaw complete with extension tables etc. and have come across a number of apparent defects.

The first and most serious is the blade runout (sideways wobble) which I have checked using a DTI for both of the Festool blades supplied with the machine.  I find that it is at least of 0.3mm measured on the face of the blade at a radius of about 75mm from the centre.  This seems to me to be excessive especially for a machine of this price and quality.  The pattern of the runout suggests that the problem is with the arbour or the blade fixing rather than the blade flatness.

I note that in his The Table Saw Book at page 88, Kelly Mehler states in the context of a 10" blade (although the size may not be relevant) that he considers runout greater than 0.006" [0.15mm] to be excessive.  Does anyone have a view on this?

The second problem is that the edge of the ripping fence is not parallel with the line of travel of the blade.  I find that there appears to be no means of adjustment of the fence assembly but that one of the four socket screws which fasten the fence to its sliding stock is loose and cannot be tightened.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

I had similar concerns about my TS75 and Festool’s answer was that they don’t publish this kind of information (allowable blade or arbor runout). Somewhere I came across a piece of information that Festool aims to keep blade + arbor runout under 0.025mm. I assume that is at the outer perimeter of the blade, but not sure which saw model. Wondering how realistic that is.

Your 0.3 mm does seem to be excessive. Does CS70 have slip clutch on the arbor? It is compressible and misalignment will result if the arbor bolt is not properly tightened.

0.3 mm is excessive for sure. I never put a gauge against my CS70's blades so I can't say for sure what the runout would be on mine, but I never felt it to be necessary. I think I would have noticed 0.3 mm if mine had it. But I can't imagine such a high number is acceptable by Festool's quality standards. If I were you, I'd contact my dealer, seems this needs to be sorted out.

Thanks for the above.  Prior to posting the point I had searched and seen Svar's previous post but I don't think the CS 70 is the same as his machine
