I have just taken delivery of a CS70 trimsaw complete with extension tables etc. and have come across a number of apparent defects.
The first and most serious is the blade runout (sideways wobble) which I have checked using a DTI for both of the Festool blades supplied with the machine. I find that it is at least of 0.3mm measured on the face of the blade at a radius of about 75mm from the centre. This seems to me to be excessive especially for a machine of this price and quality. The pattern of the runout suggests that the problem is with the arbour or the blade fixing rather than the blade flatness.
I note that in his The Table Saw Book at page 88, Kelly Mehler states in the context of a 10" blade (although the size may not be relevant) that he considers runout greater than 0.006" [0.15mm] to be excessive. Does anyone have a view on this?
The second problem is that the edge of the ripping fence is not parallel with the line of travel of the blade. I find that there appears to be no means of adjustment of the fence assembly but that one of the four socket screws which fasten the fence to its sliding stock is loose and cannot be tightened.
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.
