What is the purpose of the top clearance on Movento (7 mm) & Tandem (6 mm) slides? Is there any reason for it beyond allowing for the vertical adjustment in the slides plus a bit of "extra" room? It doesn't seem to me that much if any room is needed for installing the drawers. I'm wondering because I have some stock that was cut for Tandem drawer sides, which will be 3 mm too wide for drawers going into the same space on Movento slides. The space is 160 mm and the sides are 140.

It seems to me that if I can potentially live with 1 mm of "headroom" (with the drawers adjusted all the way up) then I don't need to cut down the stock which would save me a bunch of trouble. Or looked at from another angle, if I don't need to adjust the drawers up then the most I need is 4 mm.

But, I'd rather not learn the hard way what I'm not seeing...

To the best of my knowledge it is just for ease of installation of the drawer box. The tighter the clearance the greater chance for binding.

Mock up one drawer and try it. Easy enough to trim the height if the need arises.
