Finished it last week, importantly my wife is happy with it.  The beams over it are designed to support shading material when it gets hot here in the summer.

It's made out of Redwood, construction grade for the legs, clear for the rest.  Let's not talk about how much the wood cost, just say it is very nice stuff.  If you are in the SF Bay Area, Bruce Bauer lumber has a great selection of Redwood.

Here are some pictures with my wife's bonsai on it.  Thanks again for the suggests to use my TS55 to make the mortises.

Nice design with slats and two tiers. Are you going to let the redwood silver naturally or try some kind of finish?

Thanks.  The plan is to let the redwood age naturally.

I have to make a potting bench for a client and I may steal some of your design, at least the roof detail. If bronze Poly Twinwall hasn't gone up too much I'll probably use it for the lid.

Thank you Bob.
We inherited an old Bonsai that I'm afraid we've let run wild a bit. It lives outside most of the year. One of these days I need to watch a few YouTubes and give it a haircut. Thanks again!

WoW! Bob

That's an awesome bench, especially with the possibility of installing a shade.

May I, request a copy of your sketch file I will be interested to know how much will cost for me to build a bench like that.

I would be happy to send you the sketch-up file.  Please PM me your email address.

I don't remember what I spent on lumber.  I used a mix of clear redwood for the slats and construction grade for the posts.  The cost will depend a lot on what your lumber costs are.
