I currently have a Bosch 1617 with the Plunge Base and I'm wondering if anyone know the distance between the flat side of the base and the center of the bit socket. I've been searching for the details but could not find it.

Thank you

Francis

If you can't find the specification, you might try measuring from the flat side to a known diameter bit or rod chucked in the router.  Add the radius (or half the diameter) of the bit/rod.  That actually might be a better way to do it since the measurement would be coming directly from your machine.

Agree with above, or, you could take a cut along a fence with the flat against the fence and see what the result is. Measure fro the fence to the cut and add half of whatever bit you used. Generally, I think it is better to measure actual performance of a tool than to measure the tool and guess at the performance, but that's just me.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I will eventually do but I was wondering if somebody had the information.

I agree with Greg.  That's a good way to go.  The only thing I could add is to make the cut a dado and use half the width of the dado.  That would cancel out any inaccuracies there might be in the size of the bit or any run out issues.
