As I need a sander and cannot afford £500 for a RO150, this one looks pretty close on specs. So has anyone got one ? any good ?

i have used one.  thought it was the best sander i ever used before festool. if you only want it for random orbit sanding it will be good enough but wont have the rotex type mode for heavy stock removal

Before I bought my Rotex I did some extensive research into all kinds of eccentric sanders available and read quite a bit about this sander. Overal consensus was that it's a pretty decent sander that will get the job done and that it's a buy you won't soon regret. Nevertheless, lots of people insisted the comparable Metabo SXE 450 Turbo Tec was better. More durable and with the advantage that is has a fine mode with an eccentricity of 3 mm and an aggressive mode with a 6 mm swing. But I'm not speaking from experience, only reporting what I've read.

If money is a concern, why not try to find a used Rotex, I bought mine almost unused for only 275 euro. That makes very little difference with the price of a new Bosch or Metabo. I don't know how the market is in Scotland, but if you were in Holland, I would have found you a Rotex 150 in excellent condition for 250-300 euro in less than a week.

Do you mean TURBO  not PRO   cus I cant find a PRO which looks like the Rotex only a TURBO.

Yes I have tried the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO few seconds and it sounds and felt very similar to the Rotex  but I found the rotex felt a little smoother while sanding and it didnt feel like jumping around like the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO did with me but I cnt give a fair opinion as it was BRAND new so it had not been worn in AND only used it for few seconds because I was busy and wasnt really interest as I have the Rotex 150 and wasnt planning on buying it.

You know the Thread Cedar Gluelam  and the builder bought the Rotex and CT26  well he did buy the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO and thats the one I used for  a few seconds  they took it back and got the Rotex and CT26 because his brother is into festool now because of me and no mater what he wanted the festool one but his brother had bought the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO they argued and in the end it was taken back and refunded.

any way!   I did watch the builder using the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO 2 hours and he jumped around a few times I blamed it on his skill level  doesnt know how to use a sander!  For one he just kept flying around left to right quickly as I think you should move across slowly  not treat it like a cloth wiping something down lol!   Any way he took the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO back but then he had no sander for the day untill the Rotex arrived so I let him use mine and  I found he never jumped about using my Rotex but he was still doing the cloth thing lol!

Any way I jumped down to show him how to use it properly and he was sanding more wood my way in less time.   Any way he said he did prefer the Rotex but did think for him the difference wasn't a lot for how much extra he had payed and how often he will actually use it which is hardly ever lol.

So me I would still buy the Rotex but if you want to save money Bosch GEX 150 TURBO  You still need to buy a Vac to make either of them perform at their peak!
Oh he didnt have a Vac on the Bosch GEX 150 TURBO  but I made him use my CT22 with my Rotex so another reason why its a unfair  analysis really.

Yes of course I meant the GEX 150 TURBO, DOH !!

I already have a few Festool's, like planer, jigsaw, TS55 and the Midi vac and also the little ETS125 which is great but I sometimes need a larger or more aggressive sander. The RO150's seem to go for silly money but I'll watch a bit longer as there's none on Ebay at present.
