Bosch vacuum

I received the latest Fine Woodworking magazine and they had a page review of a new Bosch vacuum with auto tool start, suction control, dual filters and a price of about $400.  Looks like Bosch is taking notice of Festool's products.

I don't know if it's the same one we have at work, but I talked to the guy who bought it. He's a big fan of Festool, but doesn't own any. He considered the Festool, but they didn't need the Systainer capability (when you can throw everything into a basket, I guess), didn't want to pay extra for the handle, and the Bosch could change over to wet vacuuming quicker. The last one is a definite plus when you're working around a million and a half gallons of water.

Of course, it's hooked up to a non-Festool sander, so it doesn't have as much particulate matter to suck.

It did have an automatic "filter flicker". Kinda pointless, IMHO since my filters look surgical room sterile.

The odd part is that all of the supervisors in Carpentry and Props think Festool is really cool. If they only realized the money and time it would save to use "the system"! Efficiency doesn't cost, it pays.
