Right guys iam in desperate need for a new finish nailer ( has too be cordless)I have always had paslode nail guns and have had a love hate relationship with them ,but theses days they are a bit expensive so I have been looking around and I came across the Bostitch GFN-1664KU Cordless 16G Second Fix Finish Nailer 64mm from Ffx at £244 including vat which is considerably cheaper than paslode. But I know nothing about any other nailers.
What are your thoughts?
Have you used them?
Build quality?
Do you have another recommendations for me?

Makita  - NO

Hitachi - NO NO  NO

Paslode - NO NO NO! NOOOOOOOO

Senco - I dont know

Dewalt - yes/no

Bostitch - yes

Must admit I have went right off paslode. Dewalt I tried once but was too heavy jmb, what your experience with the bostitch, do you have one ?

Saying YES NO  above....

Thinking about it I props buy the Dewalt again [embarassed] I know I know dewalt I have had mine for a few years still going well!  I know its heavy but still !   Mainly because it doesnt use gas so nails are FAR cheaper and when it stops working its either a nail stuck or batterie dead     Paslode and other brands their are like 4 reasons why they stop working  very annoying! Also they are loud and nails+gas cost more  and often u have more nails left than gas  so you have to buy more gas

No only used the first fix Bostich and felt good   not used the second fix  but its a German brand and its the only brand left out of the options you have which is a  well known good brand.

I knew you wouldnt like the Dewalt due to its weight  its what every one I talk to say is the weight apart from that its a good nail gun.

If my Dewalt eventually lets me down the Bostich is what I would be looking at the replace it but like I said I most likely buy the dewalt one again I think.

Mmmm I don't work for myself as such so I have never really thought about the price of nails as they are always supplied, if dewalt brung out a new lightweight with lithium batteries now we would be talking  [big grin]

Yeah you would be daft not to go with the dewalt one then it would be the best gun available  but they dont unfortunately.

Your talking almost double the price  for the nails.

Do you ever see the appeal of air fed guns ?

I do sometimes but I think it all depends on what your doing.

Then I think to my self I HATE leads and always want everything cordless if possible.   So getting a lead to power the compressor and then having a hose  would annoy me massively   especially if I was just to  nail a few pieces of timber which would take 2 mins  what a waist of time setting up a compressor!   I could of gone got my Dewalt BANG BANG BANG  put my dewalt back in my van  by the time you have set up the compressor.

Even if you say  your on a job for a long period of time so you can leave your compressor set up    even then having to go from room to room with a long hose or carry the compressor to another room is annoying.

The less cables hoses   the less clutter on the job the better I think

Yeah I feel exactly the same as you, last week I bought a 110 corded collated gun and all this week I have regretted it. I HATE CABLES lol and with the air gun very rare would I need too put 50 nails in in 1 second lol, think am 90% on the bostitch just waitin too see what the other guys over the water say I think it's more popular over there. I've never even seen one here. I'm only young though lol

We (europe)  are more up on the cordless nail guns than across the pond.    If you want to know about air guns then the guys on the other side of the pond are the guys to ask but as for cordless you will find they will be more on the air powered guns side than cordless.       My local Dealer has a stand with a Bostich first fix   second fix and floor nailer. I have handled the second fix just not used it.

The Dewalt has rapid fire lol Shoots as fast as you can move.

I got  the Fein(collated) auto feed gun  AND the Cordless Protool one.    I use neither of them lol  Waist of money they where lol  When I do have alot of boarding to do I get the Protool out  but I normally only have like 1 plasterboard to fix so I just use my festool drill and scew individual screws in  not worth hassle getting the auto feed guns out for one board.

The Fein and PRotool are brilliant auto feed guns by the way!    Makita is crap  and um crap and umm no joke crap  if some one gave me one I would throw it into the skip  ALL of them are crap      cordless   110v  240v   and the new models all crap!  Once more crap I have used 12 of them more than half where brand NEW when I used them.  They dont even come close to how good the Fein and protool ones are.

I need too see one in person, just need too find a dealer up here, you have got too much money lol. I only buy tools I need but if I had spare I'd probably buy stuff I don't lol

The bostitch is a very well made bit of kit a guy I work with just bought one. It's as loud as a paslode . Only problem he's had is the vent at the back keeps sticking and has to be pushed back manually sometimes to fire the next shot, this just probably needs wearing in.

I have a bostitch air bradder and its very well made.

iv a 18g bostitch air nailer and love it. great quality. iv fired the bostitch gas nailer and felt better than my mates paslode one. bostitch is better as they let you use whatever gas and nailer you want and are still in warrenty. paslode wont. and you can buy the gas seperatly. thats the one id go for if i was getting one.

\jmb should know he is a paslode monkey

I had and used a DeWalt DC628K 15g cordless nailer for two years. I just sold it because I finally found a compressor (Senco PC1010) that was quiet enough and small enough for my use in an apartment.

The DeWalt worked great. Only problem was its size and weight, somewhere in the neighbourhood of 9 lbs. That's about twice the weight of my 15g Porter Cable nailer. If you want to spend the money, then you might consider a Senco Fusion. They run about 6 lbs. and are considerably less bulky than the DeWalt.

Anyone tried the new Senco fusion. (I know its too expensive for Sean here but just wondered?)

I've only looked at it and handled it - I haven't fired it. If I was able to trial one I certainly would. It's a gun I've been considering and all I have at the moment is a "no-name" Chinese pneumatic that will probably jam the second time it's fired (Ebay impulse buy). Generally though, the Senco seems quite light - much lighter than the Dewalt.

All I can say is that my local "pusher" said he's getting great reports back on the little Senco, but not on their framing guns - the battery life on the bigger guns is too short, but it's ok on the little gun.
