Bought an of1400 and this was inside - what is it for?

Bought a of1400 and have been going through a few videos and a couple of mini projects.
This bit baffles me though as it isn't mentioned in any vids and there seems to be no place for it in the systainer insert.

It's the dust port for the edge guide IIRC. Never used mine so I could be wrong  [big grin]

Don’t have an OF1400, but I would also guess that it is the dust shroud that mounts below the edge guide.
On the 1010 the intended in-Systainer placement is to keep  it mounted to the edge guide. ;)

I think this was demonstrated in one of the YouTube videos by Pau-Marcel ('halfinchshy').

It is indeed shown in the videos by Paul Marcel.  You can see it within the first minute:

It is fun to see these videos again.

It is as described above. It's place in the systainer is the farleft corner.

On the 1010 it's just a cap without hose connection. There is a more compact way to have the hose on the side; Festool AH-OF 1010 #484453

#493180 only came into existence later, but is supplied with the OF1010 as standard. It works well, but with all things attached to the bottom of the 1010 it's a pita to attach and detach. That goes way easier with the 1400.

Thank you for the tip!

I‘ve been using the chip catcher on the rare occasions I needed it. Might look into the other option for the future.

The chip catcher is way easier to handle. AH-OF 1010 means you have the hose perpendicular to the power cable. It makes it way harder to handle than hose and cable on the rear.
