Been working on some custom shelves and needed to do some lap joints and dados.  Started with the table saw and a regular saw blade, but it was taking forever.  Thought it was a good excuse to go buy the OF 1400, as the table saw was making a mess and it was raining, so I couldn't take it outside to do.  That thing is so sweet!  Yesterday, I went home covered with sawdust.  Today, I went home and you couldn't tell I had been working with wood the whole day.  I'm loving it!  Next stop, Domino!

I agree the 1400 is sweet and the Domino is a total game changer.

Suggest getting the cutter and tenon accessory kit with the Domino. I use the #5 and #4 cutters most often. Buying an extra of each isn't a bad idea. The carbide tips do snap off. A good dust vac is a requirement for the Domino, especially if you buy the 700.

I like the Halfinchshy videos on setting up and using the Domino. His tips will save you a lot of learning time. I watched the videos and practiced on scrap before I even endangered a valuable piece of wood. This forum is full of great Domino tips and tricks.

I agree with [member=15289]Birdhunter[/member]  - get the systainer of dominos and therefore the additional cutters. Interestingly, I use mainly 6 mm and 8 mm dominos with 5 mm and 10 mm almost equal after that.

Paul Marcel's videos helped me enormously when I was trying to make up my mind about the DF500 Domino.

I had a similar experience with the OF1400 two years ago! For me it is the Festool system that keeps me sliding down the slippery green slope.  The dust extraction and guide rails link it all together.

Absolutely get the domino assortment with your Domino.  You'll have the cutters and cutters you need with an organized way to store them. You can then buy refills and cutters as you need them.  I also recommend the Seneca DomiPlate , an accessory also covered in Paul's YouTube Videos.

Earlier this week my wife observed that I had not bought any Festool in a while (she didn't know my dealer had just called to say my PRO 5 Sander was in....). I'm thinking I can justify a Vectoro and SYS-Vac.  This way I get the 10% discount on the vac and can use the $50 coupon too!

After the wallet recovers from the OF 1400 and the Domino, consider complimenting that OF 1400 with the OF 1010! Youll be amazing at how many specialty things the OF 1010 brings to the table due to its smaller size and accessory options.
