Trust your hand is still not wrapped around it!  [big grin]

Doh [blink]

Real pain was the dash outside .. the stops under the sink were being sprayed with steaming hot water. I was actually pleased with myself for not making a rash "stick my hand in" decision (a younger and more stupid me may have).

I reckon it was sabotage anyway ... my wife has been at me to change the kitchen cabinetry to install the dishwasher we've has sitting idle for years. Now that the carcasses are going to swell up from being drowned, I may actually have to do something [sad]

Odd the stainless would pop.
We had a vinyl filter line pop in the kitchen a few years ago while out of town. My brother was dog watching. He told me later the dog was going crazy all of a sudden in the middle of the night and wouldn't stop until my brother followed him into the kitchen. My brother turned the water off, cleaned up the floor and they both went back to sleep. Good dog.

Yes, it certainly sounds like the gods and 'senior management' have surely joined forces
to send you a message here!  [eek]

Looking forward to pictures of the new kitchen refurbishment.

I've has the end joints fail on braided hose connections in stainless and failure on the plastic braided hoses.  I'm looking forward to the new kitchen re-model pictures.

You have better luck than me. Stuff like that always happens to me either just as or just after I go to bed, and then it keeps me up all night dealing with it. Oh - it also only happens on a night when I have something significant planned for the following morning.

At least you were there when it happened and could deal with it before it was TOO bad. And as far as the project, just tell the wife that you need another Festool (or 2 or 3 as appropriate) to do it 'properly' and you're all set!

[thumbs up]

My neighbor had that happen while they were at work! The insurance rep took the braided line and said they would try and sue that company. Thankfully you were home!

Just had the sprayer hose start leaking on mine. Wife noticed it was leaking about 10:00 I was just going to bed. Had another faucet in the garage I had for almost 2 years so got to bed about 12:30 after I switched them out. Did a lot of cussing in between. Now I have to fix or replace one of the shut off valves it's still leaking a little.

SEE! That's what always happens to me too.

It's a conspiracy by plumbing devices I tell ya!

I've been changing all my shut off valves (and hose bibs) to ball valves. They are soooo much quicker to use and almost never disappoint.

I had a hard maple cutting board standing on its side and it fell on the hot water valve of the kitchen sink faucet. By the time I finally got the shut off valve closed (MANY turns later), the hot geyser had taken the popcorn ceiling down to the paper of the sheetrock. That was a profound mess.

Refurb of anything aside ... I'm trying to figure out what Festool I can justify during the replacement of the tap (going to install a new flick mix and lines).

May also replace the taps under the sink with ball valve if I can find something appropriate this morning. I've been meaning to do the same in the laundry too. Better check those lines!

+1 on the ball valves
The rubber seals in my old gate valves leaked making them annoyingly useless.

Ha! It is even worse if you have something significant planned for THAT night. [bite tongue]

It took me a minute to get your meaning. DOH! Yes, that could ruin your whole day - or night, in this case.

You might want to look into a device called a watercop (www.watercop.com).  I have installed water cops integrated into automation systems into my last 2 homes.  The watercop saved me from a similar problem when my hot water heater leaked.  A sensor triggered the watercop which quickly shut off the water in the house.  The automation system emailed my wife and myself that there had been a leak.

I was tied up at work but my wife was able to head home. The entire mess from the leak was cleaned up with one swipe of a sponge  [big grin].  Next day we just had to replaced the water heater.

Hope this helps

Jay
