More of a jobsite, homeowner, knock around, beat up job.  Not SUPER quiet like the JC10.  Really a comparable unit to the very very famous Porter Cable C2002 workhorse.  That classic red pancake style compressor you're all used to seeing.

Rolair AER6 Compressor @ Toolnut.com

Taking preorders now, hope to have'em ASAP

What would you recommend if someone wanted a quiet unit but a bit more capacity than the JC10?

I had always thought oil-less were noisier but that doesn't seem to be the case given the JC10 noise level.

I'm more of a hobbiest, so not extensive use or a need to move it around.

thanks -

Neil, likely not what you want to see, but this guy is quieter than most all hand carries, but its far from a hand carry.  Rolair 5715K17

how is compared to the rolair d2002hpv5?
Big difference Jake.  You're comparing a pro level (D2002) versus a price point model intended to be affordable for the homeowner, hobbyist or contractor who wants to compete with box store pricing.  One is oil lubricated, one isn't.  The D2002 is in a totally different league.

Mines getting beat up bad, what would u recommend, for light framing, and building LVL header etc...

You're using a 2002 now?  How many framers do you run at a time?

What's the db rating on that unit?

Cute little unit btw.  Almost looks like something Festool would have made themselves.

Just about 80 db.

The VT20TB is a bit quiter than some other hand carries and still has solid CFM ratings.  DB for that unit is at 73, where most hand carries are 79-80.  VT20TB Compressor @ Toolnut.com

That's more money and larger than I can handle.  Is there not a twin-tank version of the JC10?

How about the VT20TB?  Only 13 db louder.
