My brother and i never got along too well. During the period we lived with an uncle, when we would get into a tiff, my uncle would hand us the two man crosscut saw and aim us at the woodpile. There is nothing like a two man saw to teach teamwork. Even tho we never did get along very well, i have never had anyone at the other end of a two man saw that could work so well as a team as he and I.
For those who have never used such a saw, be it known that if both men pull at once, a lot of energy will be expended in going nowhere. If one pushes when he should be pulling, the same situation. the saw must be pulled by one while the opposite worker "rides", or relaxes while saw is being pulled away. The job can be quite frustrating if the two do not perform the appropriate tasks as a well coordinated team. That saw had a way of cooling us both down.
I watch some of those old films above and think how people could learn so much about team work if taught those old skills today.
