Brice Burrell's custom carpentry website, what happened?

Brice

I had an email from one Ken Nagrod offering a rental library of Brice Burrell reviews on tape, narrated by Peter Halle, and featuring limited edition "no longer available" classics. Is this like how Disney re-releases their stuff or what? I had been waiting for what seemed eternity for you to finish the RO90 review when the site closed.

Brice,
Could you please share what router bit (type like CMT 7 degree trimming bit or the one with bearing on) did you use with this setup? Just curious.

Scott, I do hope to post the RO90 review on the blog soon and I'll add my experience with it over the last year.

Danny, you can use pretty much any bit you want.  That said, I'll usually grab a bottom bearing straight bit.

Cool, Brice. Thanks for sharing. I think you will find a blog platform to be much easier to update, share and interact with your readers. Its nice to know, after all the hard work of writing the content, that people are reading. This thread pretty clearly shows that people are reading and value your thoughts.

Can't be emphasized enough!

I just noticed today that someone snatched up the Burrell Custom Carpentry domain.  I'm guessing it's Paul and he'll be stealing steering all my old traffic to Half Inch Shy. [tongue] [big grin] [big grin]

Hey Paul, you'll be glad to see a hand tool on my blog today, the butt mortise plane. [thumbs up]

That sucks. I think you had some "brand equity" in that name.
I don't know what kind of traffic you had, but it looks like a "domainer" (buy domains and place paid links on them) is sitting on it because of fthe residual traffic.
If you can try to get it back from them.
I can try some of my contacts and see if they can tell me who has it and what the likely hood of them selling it to you are if you want.
Some "domainers" are quite intractable and difficult (unmotivated sellers) to deal with, but as traffic falls off (12-18months?), they might sell back to you.
Email me if you want me to inquire after the name.

I just posted here to make a joke (at Paul's expense [big grin]).  I'm not interested in getting the domain back.  Out of curiosity I looked into who now owns it now.  As it turns out, the domain is indeed for sale, a cool $1800.  Makes Ken's $200 seem cheap.

I didn't say $200.  I just said crisp $2 bills.  I thought it was clear that the money should keep coming!

Ack! no, wasn't me! (and i know you were joking)  When I saw you post that you were pulling the site, I removed the link to it awaiting your new blog link.  Been too buried to follow this so I'll pop that the page.  I didn't want to leave the old link in there cuz it was dead but also that's what squatters look for.

Domain squatters suck.  Usually you have a certain amount of time to get the domain back.  I think you were with GoDaddy and I thought they had a way to get it back for up to a couple months.  So get it back and sell it to Ken :)

$2.00 in crisp bills !!!  Everybody knows Ken is a real cheapy  [poke]

all kidding aside, Brice, I have not commented about your site very often, if at all.  I have, however, checked it out to answer many of my questions along the way.  I have really appreciated your efforts thru the years.  What I have appreciated most from your insights has been that you have mostly looked at demos from a builder's point of view.  Inspite of the fact I’m no longer involved with home construction, i still look at problems from a site contractor's point of view.

There are others on the FOG who are also doing a bang up job of helping those of us who are less knowledgeable about fine tools and how to use them; we all tend to make use of their great insight and go merrily on our ways, taking what we can and putting all of your collective knowledge to very good use.  In thanking you, i am also extending my greatfull acknowledgement to such as Rick Christopherson, Jerry Work and so many members who have always been there to help those of us who have far less experience.  There is no way I can do justice to even a small percentage of what has been done for us.

Brice has spent many hours in helping all of us.  Even tho many who have been helped, they are probably unaware of Brice’s site problem.  I would not have been so enlightened had I not accidently stumbled on to this conversation quite by accident.  While handing out the “Thankyou’s, Thank you for the update.

In that respect, I have to point out that, even tho he is a “cheapy” (and you know I don’t really mean that Ken) and who who is always ready with the quick comeback and ready hmor, he is also one who has often lended his expertise.

This is a great site
Tinker

PS  Paul, i could not justify including you among all of those who continue to blog and even show demos of such great value.  You just seem to be having soooo much fun.   ::)

I will no longer be billing anyone due to pricing dyslexia.  [tongue]  Either that or there's a rift in the universe.  [big grin]
