I purchased one and have used it on a few projects - most recently for centering knobs on drawer fronts. I have also used it for drilling into the ends of table legs for securing anchors and getting them square. I also had a project for drilling into the corner of a leg for attaching to a stool with an anchor bolt through a corner bracket and used the jig for that as well. It's very well made and worked great in those examples.
It comes with alternative faces though I have not yet tried those for things like doweling miters. I do have a Domino, so I tend to use it for those applications, but I can see where the DJ-1 could be very useful for securely making smaller frames where the Domino might be a bit large and unwieldy to handle.
No doubt you could do these with a typical drill, measuring, clamping, etc. But the DJ-1 is intuitive and easy to use. And accuracy is amazing.
Overall, top quality and very close tolerances. Typical BCTW innovation and attention to detail.
