That looks really good.
I say Bastone walnut and teak with a contemporary flair. Maybe mix in some polished copper to match your speakers. I don't know a metal inlay or a custom made metal frame. Like 1/2" square and very geometric.
Maybe it mounts to the wall no legs.
Li like those speakers!
Thanks Ice,
Not familier with bastion walnut. Teak is an interesting thought. I was thinking quarter sawn white oak.
It will definitely be contemporary / mid century. All hard angles and just ease the edges, not chamfered.
The big question is plank or border/field design. I'm not in the mood to spend the time on border field. Plank fits contemporary design better anyway. Here's an idea I had and anybody feel free to chime in. I like feedback and ideas.
Anyway I have not seen this, although I'm certain it's been done...... Go with planks, but rather than exposed end grain, you cut a 45 return piece for each end. Now there's going to be a 45 seam on both ends of the plank. One could either have the 45's in the same direction or alternate left and right. Or alternate end to end. Just a thought.
Below is an illustration of the top. A hidden 4" equipment shelf sandwiched between a 5/4 (or thinner) hardwood top and bottom. Probably 4" wide planks.
The big question is the legs. If it was true mid century they would be splayed pencil legs.... the screw on kind. However there's too much weight. I went on
Etsy and found a guy, 10 min away, that makes iron/steel .... I'll call them hoop legs. Perfect for the weight and minimalistic in style. I could experiment with a patina.
