I came a British multifunctional workbench and was curious to know if anyone has had any experience with this table? It looks like the table was made for the British tool company website, Axminister.co.uk, and would complete with the Festool MFT-3.
By the way, I was shopping on Axminister because I can get a Festool combi-3 for $117 (including shipping to the US and customs fees) while one of those Sys containers is $150 through Amazon.
I was intrigued by the fact that I could get this table (top, frame, and dogs) shipped to the US for $359, while an MFT-3 would run me about $660. I plan on building a base cabinet for my MFT-3 anyway (which I had planned to buy in the near future), so I wouldn't need the sawhorse style legs for this table to even the fold down legs of the MFT-3. I also like that the frame appears to have more support than the MFT-3 since this one uses a torsion style frame. Finally, this top is made from "18mm thick solid HDF Valchromat." Does anyone know what this material is or how it compares to the material used in the MFT-3?
What do you guys think? Has anyone seen this or anything similar available in the US? I realize that this doesn't have the fold down track that the MFT-3 has, but can't that system be replicated just as accurately using dogs and your existing tracks/fences?
