Broken jigsaw blade

I was using my jigsaw (ps 420 ebq) and the blade snapped off just below the ”T”. See the picture to see a new festool blade and the broken blade. I have tried using vacuum, using Neuro micro instrumentation, small files, nothing seems to work.

I posted this question originally to a Festool Facebook group and received dumb answers that said sell it and buy xxxx instead, etc. If that will be your response, please do not submit a reply.

I was hoping that someone here could give better direction on how to FIX to problem. I was doing a straight cut when it broke, so I do not think it twisted.

I have left a message with Festool, but have not yet received a response. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi!

Do you have a strong magnet? Could be worth a try. When you try, make sure the ejection mechanism is in the release position, and check if the remained T-shaft can rattle. If it is stuck, there might be something blocking it inside the chuck. That would mean either taking it apart or sending it in for service.

Other than that, the blade looks really burned/ and the carbide guides left a lasting impression. I'd say they have been set way too tight for that blade. (Which might be the cause for the broken blade.)

Can you push it back in and try the twist to eject it again?  I feel like this happened to me before and that worked

Spray with wd40 until the remaining part of the blade is soaking wet. Twist the release and try to grab it with the thinnest tweezers you can find. Perhaps make one yourself by bending a very thin strip of metal in two. Here you can buy sheets of metal 0,5 mm thick, and you can cut them with normal household scissors. Seems thin enough to get in there to me, and if you grab the strip with pliers, you can perhaps create enough force to grab the broken part.

Beyond that, sell it and get a real quality saw from Alibaba.  [tongue]

I had one blade break in a Trion and have the same comment as bkharman. This was years ago so memory is a little fuzzy, but I recall a bit of fiddling with it and a few creative profanities  [big grin], and then it popped out.  Maybe you have already tried this...

I know you have a Trinion, not sure if it has the same mechanisms as the CAVEX.

As a locksmith I use a spiral key removal tool which you can buy online cheap, lube liberally and holding the ejection lever over try the tool.

Thanks for this link, I had the down position issue when I put my Cavex away last week. I had no idea this jigsaw had this auto stop reset. I assumed it was just bad luck it stoped in the down position and was not controlled.

Thanks for this tip.  I didn't know about this tool and just watched a video. Wow, that works great.  I'm going to buy one to have ready "just in case".

Thank you all for the tips on helping remove the blade remnant. I finally received a response today from Festool, who said just mail it in. Thank you for the support.
