We are all living in strange times and the strangeness varies from place to place and time to time.

Those here who use Festool products have a leg up on others throughout the world who are making desks for kids who have to learn from home.

Can we here put together a program to help some in their own community but count on the moral support of others here?

I welcome any thoughts and comments except political comments.  Kids could care less about politics.

Good idea. Are you proposing a standardized plan, maybe one optimized to take advantage of the MFT/3 and other FT tools that we all share could build from.

I don't think of myself as any good at designing such things but can certainly follow a plan or set of instructions.

I've seen a few that build four desks from a single sheet of plywood.

What do you think about a seat or bench? Or just stick to the desk. A cubby to help keep the desktop clear would be good.

30+ years ago I threw together a printer stand from 3/4 ply. Well it hasn't fallen apart yet and it's had many uses since it held a wide carriage dot matrix printer in my Ham Shack back in 1988.

It's a very simple design but for a child it could function as a desk, especially if it had a cubby below the desktop to hold books and papers.

Here's a couple pics I just grabbed. Lately its been sitting in the basement doing nothing. I've actually thought of tossing it as it's nothing to write home about and getting a little beat up after all this time.

My point in bringing my simple printer stand up is whatever we might make could be around a long time, or longer than we might expect. So the affect of our effort to help others may last much longer and touch others in ways we can't envision right now.
