Buying a new TS 55 - Should I wait

+1 on waiting for the new TS55 FEBQ. Anyone else keep checking the US site hoping to see it on there?  [big grin]

I can't address the original question.  But I will mention that my new catalog from Rockler shows that they are now a Festool authorized seller.  I would assume they have inventory.

I thought Rockler had been a Festool dealer for a while now?  I got my STM1800 from them last April, and they had gotten them in January.

I have been surprised at the quality of the Milescraft products (considering the low prices).  Their products have been consistently reliable and accurate. (But they do "feel" inexpensive.)

I can only speculate. Some of the Milescraft's products and its higher-priced competitors come from the same or similar factories in China or Taiwan using slightly different designs or tolerances. Of course, the brands are different.

I asked our QC manager at work to check the 45-degree and 90-degree settings on this Milescraft piece on our Nikon optical comparator.  He told me that the 90 was exactly on, and the 45 was "less than a half a degree off".  So entirely satisfactory.  And less than $9.00.
