C 18 Cordless Drill

Why is there not a C 18 to correspond with the T 18. All other voltages come in both styles. Is there a conflict with the design or something?

I don't have a good answer for your question. But I'm sure there's a good reason.

Also, I know of no plans to introduce a C18.

Well there is also no TXS.  My guess would be  that they figure what they think will sell and make the most money, and make that.

I remember reading in an old paper festool catalog, that the C handle drills were more meant for precision drilling, (easier to put put pressure inline with the bit) and the T handle drills were for heavier tasks. (I can't check the exact wording anymore because I threw them away a few years ago; it was an older catalog with the predecessor of the original C12 drill, CCD or something)

I followed that logic and got the C12 li ion when they came out (before the introduction of the CXS) to complement my protool 18V (T handle). And I use makita impactdrivers for most driving tasks.

I really don't get that fable about the precision drilling.

Once you stick the tip of the drill to the surface you use your eye-hand coordination to keep the drill straight. Makes no difference if the handle is C or T.

My personal experience is that I definately find it easier with the C to drill straight or to start a screw without holding it.
