I have been a FOG member since 2007 but this is my first post! Hi everyone!! The C12 was my first Festool product and I love it. I do have a problem with it I have never had before. I cannot get the chuck to release from the shaft. Any ideas?  Thanks

First welcome to the forum. Seems I saw someone else post about this problem recently but after a search I didn't find anything. The chuck is fairly tight fitting, try some lubricating solvent to clean and lube the parts. Call Festool is that doesn't work.

I wont explain the methods that went into me removing it.  (hammer, chisel, big screwdriver)

Mine was due to moisture, and the shaft had a bit of surface rust.

Get it off, clean it up and spray some lube on it.

Mine's been fine since.

Hey guys I just wanted to give you an update on my chuck removal problem. It has been removed! I wedged a thick bladed slotted screwdriver between the chuck and the C12 body and while gently twisting the screwdriver handle I tapped on the side of the chuck with a brad hammer.  It popped right off. Neither the shaft or the chuck socket were rusty, just dry.  I sprayed both with a little WD40 and it works fine.  The tolerances are so tight in that area the chuck actually makes a "pop"when removed. THANKS for your help. Tom

Hello, I am a new FOG member, but a long time Festool owner.  I currently have a surprising problem related to removing the chuck as discussed in this thread.  I had the same problem of not being able to remove the chuck off my C12.  Upon pulling with my hand fairly vigorously, the drill shaft came out of the drill!!!  I was finally able to get the drill chuck off of the shaft, but now I can't seem to get the shaft back into the drill.  Any suggestions????

Thanks ahead of time.
