C18 available and on UK Festool website

Beat me to it Steveo.

Will be interesting to read what people think of it.

I've just purchased T18 with 'free' battery offer.  Very pleased with performance.
My other Festool drills are the older CXS, and, the NiMH C12.
Not quite sure that I would take to the 'C' handle 18volt drill - too late now anyway!  [big grin]

Now they need a kit with that and the Ti18 in it...

Looking at the UK and Australian sites, in the past twelve months there has been a trend towards the 'Basic plus'  concept in all Festool battery products; with the exception of the CXS.

For example; C15 Basic, two chucks, no battery or charger, A$319.00. Full Kit including 4 chucks A$749.00

This type of marketing follows that conducted in drills by Makita, Blue Bosch and Milwaukie. It provides better value for many customers. At work,  battery Makita drills are now mainly available as skins, or in kits with a 'rattler', charger and 2 batteries.

They could still do the same or similar offer, but my point was to have them offer both the C18 and the yet-to-be-announced Ti18, ideally in a single Systainer similar to what they did with the old C15/Ti15, if I recall correctly?

Yes, I see WOW what you mean by T and C together.  [smile]

But who might buy it, did the prevous C and TI15 combination sell well?

I am not the person to answer that. Maybe somebody with more direct information can chime in.

That said, I have to imagine a combination of a Festool 18 volt drill and impact together WOULD be a hot seller. Take a look at the combo's from Milwaukee in both the M12 and M18 lines. I can tell you that a year ago or so the drill/driver combo's were the hottest sellers by miles...or kilometers!

Phil, never seen the 2.6 ah 18v battery, are they new, know protool used to do them? Do you know part no?

Cheers, Doug

In the last couple of months I have written 2 wishes here on the FOG.

Vac-Sys  &  Smaller 18v batteries.  Now both are here!!!  Festool just got a boat load of my cash!

Hi Phill,

Will these batteries be an option when purchasing a tool?  Will I be able to buy the new C18 with these batteries?

Aww, this is nice!

I am little ticked off in the midst of joy because I posted a month back that a C18 was _not_ coming and _not_ in the pipeline.
My source: this was official word from Festool Sweden upon direct contact with them.

And one month later a C18 is here... ...that is great but it also means I can no longer trust Festool for information. There is a difference between "not saying" and lying. And Festool Sweden was lying.

The SYS vac looks smart, me like. The C18 and battery should please many people. :)

Hi
Not an option with the drill as this will be supplied with the new 5.2 version.

Festool is notoriously closed lipped about product releases. I'm surprized they told you anything, inaccurate or not..

Yes, I was standing next to the second largest Festool dealer in the country when he phoned them to ask specifically about the C18. The rep has been in the Festool factory and had seen the new stuff but did not know any specifics on the C18 "rumor". The answer to him was that it was not coming at all due to "high wrist torque issues/ergonomics" on such a powerful machine.
The DRC has that extra grip and the PDC/DRC manual states it should "always" be used whereas the C18 does not have the extra grip option.

Based on this info I picked up a C15 kit. In Sweden we only get a 14 day return so I can't return it for a C18 so of course I am holding a grudge against Festool for providing false information by saying "no, it is not coming" instead of "we have no info as of today".

Still, I did order the SYS CTL plus long life bag - I just came back from a small fitting job where it would have been absolutely perfect, up some steep stairs and a few other Systainers to haul. The CTL SYS is hitting the market at the right time for me, I have been eyeballing smaller vac's for a while. The MIDI is "semistationary" and I would like to leave it where it stands. Small bag does not bother me for this vac. Quite the contrary, not much to empty with the long life bag and never heavy to haul. :)

I've just finished a large stair job and this vac would have been perfect. I used a midi and the weight of the midi wasn't a problem it was the placement of the midi that was a pain, difficult to stop it toppling over with other trades using the satires.
