C22 E vacuum Y connector?

I have a C22 E vacuum in my shop and have to continually swap between two tools, the Kapex and whatever hand tool I am using at the moment.  There has to be some type of a connector to connect two tools to the vacuum at the same time.  I'll get a three way for the electric plug.

Can anyone help me with the vacuum connector?

I had the same problem years ago. Then I bought the Festool Y connector. I would imagine they still sell it. Call your dealer or check the catalogue.
I remember there were some discussions about the lack of a blast gate rather than just having the plug. Inserting the plug in the unused side has never bothered me though.

I am not familiar with the C22, but might part number 452898 be what you are looking for?

Yup. The problem is that you still need to shut off one side to get full suction to the other. So adding blast gates or taking the hose off and swapping for the plug piece. Almost the same as swapping hoses.

Just get another vac.  Easiest way  [big grin]

I just got the Y listed above and I guess I wasn't paying attention.  As also mentioned above, it is fairly useless as having both hoses connected just limits suction all around.  I don't really understand this.

Yes, that will work too.

I used the 'Y' a couple times with two sanders set up with different grits to avoid handling material twice. The sanders do not require much suction and when you set down the one not in use the suction holes are blocked off ( at least partially) which transfers the suction to the one in use.  Swap the sanders back and forth as you work though a pile of shelves for example.

I did what Seth did. But I didn’t really worry about blocking the holes off since the rotex don’t sit flat. I just adjusted the volume of suction up a little bit.
I also used a 3 to 1 splitter for the electrical so the auto switch still works for either tool.

Seth, that is actually a pretty good use in this situation.  I doubt I would ever use it but I may in the future.  But if I leave my sander on the other hose while I am using one hose with my track saw, I assume the tool not being used would still cut off some of the lost vacuum.  I will try that today.  Thanks.

I like this idea but its getting expensive.  $44 for the Y and $65 a piece for the gates.  With all of this attached doesn't it get a little crowded?  Seems it would be rather bulky.  I would love to see a picture of it set up if you had the chance.  Thank you.

I use the Y and two gates at my Makita slider, one connected to the saw and the other a hose to clean up the escaped dust, of which there is copious amounts even with the addition of Fastcaps longer Mustache.  The only time I am disappointed is when I forget to switch the suction back to the saw and that is immediately obvious from the cloud.  Ps, I would love to have a Kapex but just can't swing the price tariff, too many other wants.

No problem. I know it is expensive but does work well as long as you remember to open the blast gate.

The Y connector works great with a CMS setup, which is what it is mainly market for. As someone who has done the "DOH!" from forgetting to switches hoses more times than I can count, I had looked into automating gates to switch between tools automatically, and at some point I may still do so. Otherwise I did as suggested above and bought another CT36 but an AC used and broken for a very reasonable price, which was far cheaper than automating.

Yes I use those poly blast gates on my 4” extraction system for my machinery. I expect a 2” version would work fine on the CT. They fit pretty well although the 4” system is permanently fitted with glue and mastic.
