Cabinet Makers Vise

Made me wonder if I could put it in my bench. Not really (just like the other times I considered it...) but did think of a different solution for my bench so this was a great kicker for an idea

Also stop in at Amazon’s Woot.com.  They get a lot of oddball stuff and regular production stuff, but nothing on a regular basis.  They find a buying opportunity and the sell it off fast.

I got a very nice bench vise for (as I recall) $45.00.

They have Bora and Delta on sale now.  That will be gone an a couple of days and something else will that it’s place.

You can use your Amazon account to buy anything on Woot.  Here’s a link.

Going the other way in price (this is FOG after all), I've admired this vise:

I built my workbench three decades ago, so square dogs, traditional tail vise, and the now discontinued Tucker Vise:

Apparently, there some kind of fire or incident and the tooling for this was lost. Lee Valley has periodically thought about re-doing itk but at $250k, the market for them isn't big enough to justify the cost. It's a new take on the old Emmert patternmaker's vise. It's both flexible and strong.

The Klein vise had me thinking of seriously modifying my bench to accommodate it. It's a thing of beauty.

I didn't know that about the Tucker vise. I asked [member=4165]Rob Lee[/member] about it some time ago and he mentioned they were thinking about it.

Over the weekend, while re-thinking adding a vise to my bench, the thought of using the Moxon vise hardware came to mind; pursuing that this week

Hi -

The Tucker Vise will be produced again - it is on our development schedule. We will likely take pre-orders for it - so we can fine tune our production run.... a lot of parts and tooling!

Cheers -

Rob

I had an eBay search active for a while looking for one, but the prices were nuts.

But this reminds me that I should put my LN Iron Miter (with "hotdog") on eBay; going for double+ what I paid.
