A well done to  Canada for a first class return to the Montreal F1 circuit [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

I miss the race they used to have in Detroit.

I can't stand turn left racing.

Nascar=Crap.

I despise the IRL too.

It was an amazing weekend here in Montreal. What with England playing yesterday, my day began at 9am Saturday morning and finished at 5pm this afternoon. I caught three hours sleep in the middle. There was a Lie Nielsen hand tool show in Montreal on Friday and Saturday as well, but I had to give it a miss unfortunately.

I thoroughly encourage anyone who can to make it up here next here. It's a blast.

Richard.

Been to the F1 in Montreal before.  Quite an experience.  Nice to see the race back in Canada for sure.  Lost a bit of interest/respect the last few years in F1 due to a few too many scandals, but I'll still watch occasionally.  Still something strangely alluring about F1, and I like the oddball race times.  Nothing like having my morning coffee watching a race, or falling a sleep on the couch in the wee hours watching a race in lieu of infomercials (not).

Thought I'd heard something that it was coming back to the US as well, but not at Indy.  They better do a better job of it this time.  That tire fiasco a few years back was one big nail in a coffin for many fans, or wannabe enthusiasts.

The city didn't or couldn't come up with the money to pay F1 as far as I remember.

Richard.

A different promoter in Canada representing the Montreal race who did not come to terms with Bernie Ecclestone.  New group/rep has a five year deal in place, and I believe bargained for a lot less.  Seems Mr E was the greedy schlep the last time, and settled for less from what I understand.

It wasn't the first time they threatened to remove the race.  I forgot about when they banned cigaret sponsorship of sporting events in Canada was another close call, but the Government ponied up the cash to keep it going.

Pretty good race for F1. Mostly they've been fairly boring parades.  Canada had some passing and banging.  It's a beautiful venue.

Montreal was definitely the best race of the 2010 season so far, I reckon.

And it looks like a really cool place too. When me and SWMBO finally get to do our North American road trip (sometime someday never) then we may pass through...

Yes, it's a good city. Summers are amazing, winters are beautiful but brutally cold. Helps if you like snow! You can come to my workshop and use the festools if you are feeling homesick on your trip!
