Has anyone used this type of template for doing doors and door jams. I am just a little confused on the set up
for transferring the template from the door to the door jam.Set up for the door is strait forward but it said to flip the template set up end for end.So now the bootom template that is 11inches from the bottom of the door will be on the top of my door jam. Do I have to change my measurments to match the top template of my door which is 7inches from the top of the door to the template.  [unsure]

Hi -

The assembled Carey Template is symmetric - flipping it end for end only reverses the hinge cut-out for the hinge leaf on the jamb...

You'll notice that the notched gauge on either end projects the same distance from the template. Aligning the notch with the edge of the door gives you the offset needed for proper clearance when you cut the jamb hinge recesses, as you now register from the tip of the notched gauge (and not the notch itself).

Cheers -

Rob is correct, but I would like to add a note of warning.  The template is not automatically symmetric.  You have to take care in order to set it up that way.

Good clarification Frank... thanks!
