Which carvex would you choose on the corded models. Iam looking at the barrel grip compared to the d-handle.

I think it's really up to your preference. I had a Bosch AVS top grip before I bought the barrel grip Carvex and I love the control I seem to have with it. The top handle does have the variable speed trigger that the barrel doesn't but I think, and I could be wrong, I am a noob, that that is the only difference other than grip.

I firstly had d-handle jigsaw, then bought DeWalt barrel grip and now I own Carvex barrel grip.
For me it's much easier to control the saw because it just "sits" in a hand.

I have the barrel grip.

Two primary reasons:
- Hand is closer to the work for better control.
- And at those times when you want to cut from under the piece, I think it is easier to hold.

Mike, corded for me since it's not a tool that gets used on every project, and definitely barrel grip. Much more natural to use IMHO.
I used to have a bosch 1591, but sold it when I got out of woodworking for a bit and now use a crummy b&d D handle. Hate it.

Corded or Cordless? I went with corded because there was no benefit to going cordless for my uses, I suppose it depends on where you are using it. If you are using dust collection then I don't really see the point of cordless. I also went with barrel grip I find that it's more comfortable and allows for better manoeuvrability.

Unless you need cordless, can't see an advantage - as others have pointed out, it's a moot point anyway when using dust extraction.

Be aware that it may take some time to get used to the barrel grip if you've not used one before - my point I suppose is don't be put off if you compare the handling of both units in a store before buying. It gets more intuitive the more you use it and feels more controllable in my opinion. Another one to watch out is remember that there are two power switches either side of the barrel grip should you feel uncomfortable using your thumb; this will make sense when you use it.

I just went through this debate myself.

I had a D-handle Dewalt cordless, which I sold.
I had a barrel-handle AEG, which I sold,

I still have a D-handle Milwaukee M12. I really like it, but is' not a 'finish' saw like the Carvex.

I chose the D-handle corded Carvex. I can use it as a barrel-handle if I want, but I like the control the D-handle gives.

Anyway, that's my  [2cents]. I predict you'll debate this right up to the second you order it. Remember that if you decide you've chosen wrong, you've got 30 days to send it back and get the other model. At least that's what I tolkd my wife - no mention of a refund option!

:-)

I went with the corded barrel grip Carvex and I am thrilled.  I wanted to be closer to the cut line thinking it would increase control.  For me it did just that.

I have a barrel grip and enjoy it.  For those who are used to having a D handle saw and who have gotten used to having a variable speed trigger that allows you to slow the blade and creep up on the end of a cut, I can see that there could be an attraction to the Festool D.Handle.

I just got a barrel Carvex last week and I love it.  Up till then they were all "D" handle.

Im REALLY new to jigsaws and I got the barrel grip. I have not used it much but, so far I cant do anything right with it. I feel I have no control with the switch being all or nothing, the positioning of the switches seem odd, I can not see my line well from any angle I try to look at it from, the splinter gaurd makes it harder to see what I am doing but I guess that's another topic. Maybe I will adjust to this saw. Have no choice because I own it.

I am feeling like I should have bought the D handle version

Barrel for me

I've had D Handle in a Bosch model and even though I thought it was good when I switche to a barrel type it I felt I made the better choice
