I was just watching Cool Tools on the DIY network and the Carvex saw were both featured.  Does this mean they are closer to release?

Sorry, Alex. But, no it does not. It just means that they didn't get the memo about it being postponed I guess.

Shane, I really need a new jigsaw and planned to buy the Carvex last summer.  I've been waiting for it, but now I really need to purchase a new saw.  Any chance I should be waiting for the Carvex or just go ahead and purchase the Trion?

i suggest you try to get your hands on a cheaper used trion or any other decent brand like Bosch, and save the cash for the real thing when/if it gets out. I wouldn't blow big money on something i know is gonna get upgraded, even though having no time line from festool to hold on to, is pretty much a terrible pr move and puts allot of people like you in a very uncomfortable position.

I have no new information to share about a potential launch of the Carvex. So, as it stands, there is no chance we'll see it in the near future. The Trion's a great saw and with the lower price, a great value.

[thumbs up] Trion is a great saw. And at the lower price even better.
I was holding out for the Carvex as well, but the Trion is a great saw, smooth as silk...compared to my 25 year old Bosch I suppose anything would be great.

I bought the new mafell p1 cc fantastic jigsaw..

Shane,

Appreciate that info; I was in the same boat, holding out for the Carvex, but it appears that I *may* jump on the Trion as a stop-gap.  I do hate purchasing with the plan of buying something in the future, though.

In the long run I'd rather have Festool work out the kinks before making it available on this side of the pond.  I hear there have been a few issues with the beta testers in Europe.... ;)

Thanks, that's great - another Mafell tool to add to the list. [wink]

So I tried to watch the video but it was censored  (being in north america ya know). Seems they are good enough for Europeans however.

I am thinking of getting one (cordless model) next time I am in Europe and using the 240V in the shop to charge it up.

Cheers,

I think I will go with the Trion for now and purchase the Carvex when it does arrive or at a later date when I feel I need it's capabilities.  Thanks for the info!

+1.

I couldn't wait any longer for the Carvex (although all the negative press was steering me away from it anyway). Picked up a barrel-grip Trion today in a T-loc, the price is so close to the Bosch 1591 now that is really makes sense to grab one.

Can't wait to use it in anger today as I have some 4"x4" sapele to make some cabinet legs from.

Hi! i also bought the MAFELL P1 CC, it is just as good as the CARVEX BUT STRONGER.Disavantages of the MAFELL.... THE PRICE

Watch the Mafellfun clips. Go to www.mafell.com then hit the british flag or British web site the hit Mafell web tv(the first at the right side) ,then fun clips and watch [laughing] mission p1cc

I love my barrel-grip Trion Richard, will be interested in what you make of it.

Most of the language specific sites (including the British one) seem to be down.

Well, I used it today to cut my sapele block into roughly lengthed pieces. This is a hard wood, approximately 4" by 5". I put in a new splinterguard, and cut one piece on the zero pendulum setting, and one piece on the extreme III setting. There was no splintering on the first cut, and very little on the second. It went through the block like a hot knife through butter. The cut quality on the end grain was incredible, cleaner than if I had used a bandsaw.

This is my third jigsaw, including the Bosch 1591, and I can see no reason to ever replace it. It's a bit of an unsung hero in the Festool line-up, but it's really superb, and at $250 an absolute steal.

Europe, you can keep your Carvex!
