Well to answer my initial question, I persevered and Festool have replaced my 400 with a 420 which I guess is pretty good service (although I really think they should have done a recall of all 400's and replaced them as I don't believe they can ever be any good, but I'm willing to be proved wrong)
I haven't had time to try it yet but see it has the same guides as the Trion. I'll report back if I manage to make the half a dozen round tables that are backlogged.
