Me and my mate are doing this Cedar decking which will have cedar gazebo on top with shingle roof.     Also in the picture you can see concrete slap which is another part of the job but doing that after we have finished this but that area is the bbq area and its having a Cedar roof above with 4 hips and shingles.

Just some pictures to show you what we have done so far.

First we layed out some ply to create the curve!   Got some metal plates attached to ply together and then fixed a router to a piece of ply attached to a 1x1 timber which was then fixed in centre point.

The Decking is 4.2 wide and 7 meters long.

(sorry if some pictures are poor quality some are made by my mobile as I forgot my camera!)

Then we placed it in position so to see where we should position it with the semi circle.  Then marked where to dig the holes!

I didnt like using softwood for posts so we went looking around the clients shed and found ALOT of oak!  So we took some of them to concrete into the ground!

I didnt like just fixing to the oak post so I suggested notching the Oak beams

It kept on raining then it sunny then rainy! So decided to park our vans close enough to use the joists to span across each other vans and we found some light weight sheets in the clients shed and placed them ontop to cover up.   So I was able to use my CMS and OF2200 to copy the ply templates.

Looks really nice jmb, something diffrent with the round/elliptic shape I like it haha.

But... Lovely hot... I dont know how hot it is over there, but it is 38 degrees and a humid of 89% over here, really, it wasn't nice working today [unsure].

Cheers René

im soooo looking forward to seeing some curvy pics, id love to have a go at something likr that

Dude even reading this topic makes me sweat lol haha. round things in wood are lovely for the eye
but its a serious amount of more work! Looking forward to the pics...

Are you making a planning for all your jobs, like a work preparation or something or is it all in your head when you are starting a project?

René

We where going to do the red section curve the decking entrance out and hand rail but now we are doing away with that!  FEW!!! more curving!

Nice drawing haha it makes sense to me why you wouldnt make the curves it that section. But I do think it looks nice, and
complements the overall design of the decking... Wow that cedar is expensive by the way, didn't know it cost that much [blink]!

Looking forward to some more pics and reading material  [popcorn]

Cheers René

Well I have some more pictures but like I said I am not going back till next week but ill upload these pictures just so its something to look at for now lol!

I have been working on the Glulam Cedar job to day.  Ill make some pictures on Friday for that one as ill have to roof on on friday starting the roof 2 moro on that job bit more work than a standard roof plus I cant carry the rafters my self to big and heavy.

any way!

PICTURES!

We loaded the decking on my mates van and if you look closely you can see red stain on the side of the cedar!  Well about 8 of them got red stain all over because the client put some old red carpet on the cedar to protect it from the weather well it got wet and stained the cedar!  [scared] We tried to sand it but would of taken to long so we took them to the work shop and sent them through the thicknesser to take 1mm off all of them to get it out and to smooth the decking boards a bit as some where not that smooth.
[attachimg=#]

Cut some of the decking board down to 600 and put a 7.5degree cut on them and finger joined them and going so use my CMS to curve them next week for going around the decking as a boarder to cover the end grain of the decking.

[poke] any progress........

Then lost 2 3 days on rain!

So I ended up sticking my chop saw inside my van and my CT22 worked well inside my van when it was raining I just closed my sliding door!   If I needed to cut longer timber I just opened up my back door and slide the long piece in while I was getting wet but didnt mater as long as my kapex was nice and dry!
