Hey Folks,
I need some suggestions related to cedar types and whether it is good for a destop table. I want to make a new table out of cedar, but don't know about its longibility.
Well, please suggest me with some ideas
Thanks in advance

I wouldn’t use cedar? Stain grade? Painted surface like a milk paint or laminate top. White oak, ash, or even SPF.

Cedar is pretty soft, so it could show lots of damage.  even writing on paper on cedar can leave an impression.

I would not use on a table top.  Great for fences and outdoor furniture projects.

I agree with neilc.  cedar is to soft for a good writing surface unless you did a thick epoxy top over it.

Thanks you all for your suggestions  :)
However, I'm postponing my idea on making table with a cedar

Glass covering the top would be a nice hard surface, if it is the wood look you desire. *shrugs*

I did a desk with a sandstone top last year and used a toughened glass surface which worked very well.
