Centronic Bit Sets - Europe

Woohoo!!! ;D It worked Peter. ;D ;D

I tend to agree with Alex that a small socket set does not need to be in a Centrotec set, a small set of Forsteners and coresponding plug cutters would be of more value and use.

Rob.

I love the centrotec stuff (I've bought three sets over the years) but find that a whole systainer with just the one centrotec set in is not very efficient/useful.  I've ended up throwing away the inserts from two of the sets and putting the stuff in a sortainer.  I suppose what I am saying is echoing someone else's comment that you get a mixed bag of stuff with a lot that you don't need and some that you do.  I struggle all the time to have the right stuff with me on site as I don't like lugging all my kit around all the time.  A full sortainer is pretty heavy, but I haven't found anything better for being organized on site.  At the risk of getting sent onto another thread, how do others organize their centrotec stuff?  I wish I could have ALL centrotec drills for instance, but even though I now have centrotec masonry drills as well in small sizes, I am always having to use a regular chuck for some drill bit or other.

Bump

And we have a '10 Centrotec Sys. New contents, new price. ?360 w/o VAT  [crying]

It's on page 8 of this PDF:
http://www.festool.nl/Actie/Beter-in-Systeem/Najaarsactie2010/Documents/FESTOOL%20WOOD%20FOLDER%20NAJAAR%202010.pdf

It seems they ditched the ratchet in a sys-Mini

Here a better picture:

Hmmm... Looks good from a woodworker or kitchen installers perspective. But I think they could have squezed in a few more bits and bobs plus a systainer (or the dreadfull T-loc) with the nice lid on top.
As I already bought all of the centrotec things not in the 09' case, I'll pass it over I think.

Will be interesting to see at what point the price is comming at here in Denmark.

Cheers,
Jacques.

Wow, never occurred to me before...

Shane and/or DEALERS, is it possible (in the U.S.) to just order the Centro-tec INSERT TRAYS for the Systainer?  Even if it's an older one?

I'm realizing I have much of the contents of a C-set, but would love to cart it all around in a FogTainer1.  :-)

That C-set 2010 is pretty darn sweet... But, dannng.. that's about $600 USD..

It does appear to contains both countersink bits, both the countersink cutters, self-centering hinge bit, 10pc bit set (metric, I assume), So, that's easily about $400 in component pieces right there.

I do love the Centro-tec driver handle and such.  And not quite such an obnoxious number of driver bits.

That finally looks like a very useful Centrotec set. Very nice. No useless stuff and the most useful bits are included. Only the 5 piece wood drill set and the BHS 65 bit holder are missing. I have all that stuff already by now but if I hadn't this would probably be the first set I'd consider buying.

Wood_Junkie, I think you're not gonna be pleased with the answer to your question.

Was at my dealer today. They have the new CT in stock and will be selling it as of 10-1-10. Dropped $200 on misc Festool consumables. Didn't buy the wood carpenter's ruler since the thing doesn't have a brass hook on the end. Who's dumb idea was it to leave the brass hook off? Probably some engineer, not a carpenter.
The new CT is a very nice evolution of the old one. Much more convenient overall and the bag is HUGE in comparison. Attached hose garage still isn't deep enough though for 'comfortably' storing a hose.
Another customer asked the store guy, "How much do you pay him to sell Festools". I was working him to buy an MFT and Kapex.
Oh, Centrotec set that's right, love mine. Might buy another, stupid price is too much.

@Wood_Junkie

EUR360 at this moment is way below $600.
But from the centrotec 09 sys to this one is a 50+% price hike.

We say this new Centrotec set yesterday at the UK meet-up. It is expensive (no suprise there!) but if you add up the cost of each item individually, it's a bargain (assuming you want/need the majority of the contents).

One interesting point the Festool rep told us was that in the past, these Centrotec sets have been a once-a-year special. This one is different - it's a permanent catalog addition and has a 'proper' Festool 6-digit part number. It will be available indefinitely, and will be identical across all markets. Festool will no longer be producing special yearly centrotec sets (as far as the rep knows).

No, they didn't - saw that yesterday too, but that's GBP91 ex VAT... [eek]

Edit: We got a copy of a new mini-catalogue yesterday. I've looked for a PDF version online but can't find one, so here's a scan of the centrotec page:

What  [blink]

You guys in the UK get it way cheaper....

GPB 244 before VAT makes EUR 293

It's EUR 359.50 here before VAT.

Since when do the Germans pay more for Festool stuff than those off the mainland?  [blink]

I would really like to get my hands on that driver handle (hope you're listening to the US votes)!

Bob

Isn't 359.50 the after VAT price?

Not according to this PDF from Festool NL:
http://www.festool.nl/Actie/Beter-in-Systeem/Najaarsactie2010/Documents/FESTOOL%20WOOD%20FOLDER%20NAJAAR%202010.pdf

See page 8

But it's EUR 349.- + 14.90 s/h on ebay

I believe the previous centrotec systainers used to be a tad less expensive.
