After hearing everyone talk about loving or wanting the centrotec kit I figured I should snap one up before they were all gone. Now I can let the see secret out. Lee Valley still has more.

Wait, the centrotec kit is going away?  [eek] is it being replaced with something even better? I want one but was really having a hard time with the price, thought it was just one of those things that are just part of the line

The kit was a limited offering set and I am surprised that any dealers would have it in stock still.

It's strange it was only a limited time offering in North America. It's a production item in Europe.

Oz too !

Seems as though Lee Valley only sells Festool in Canada so it's not listed on their U.S. site.  They do show limited stock in most of their dozen or so retail stores.

Yes I bought it in Calgary. They now have one left. It crossed my mind to buy it and resell it to a desiring American brother. I was sucking air buying some bits for$410, but once I started to add up the pieces I am so glad I bought it.

The price for a centrotec kit is high, but once you start using it you realize how reasonable it is. Great kit.

Yea the Centrotec system is awesome!! i have the kit from year 2007,2008,2009 and 2010, Ratchet mini systainer, also have the Protool Centrotec kit.

i hope they will coming whit a new centrotec so i can continue to collect  [drooling]

Lol, amcore, you're a regular Centrotec junkie. Don't you have a lot of duplicates that way?

I have the Centrotec (2008 I think), I have since added the forstener kit, a set of centre point bits (the original where a bit short) and extra bits (flats mainly).

With the T15, it is without doubt the most used Festool kit I have and saves so much time swapping bits/chucks over especially fitting kitchen units. And always having the correct screwdriver to hand is a bonus too.

Don't tell him you have one of the ten signed collectors edition 2006 Centrotec sets ... he's liable to offer you crazy money for it !!!

Hey what do people think of this kit? Easily available here in the UK, though it's obviously not a cheap set. I'm about to buy a CXS and another higher power drill (still deciding on that one), do people see this as a must have? I can see there would be a lot of savings over buying this separately in the long run..

I have the UK set, but I added the imperial brad-point drill bit set available in NA. It's more useful for me than the general metric bits that come in the UK kit. The other most useful parts are the counterbores and the depth stop drill bits. The quality of the bronze-coloured drivers are so-so. The driver handle is good and to have everything in one tidy place is priceless. It complements the CXS very well.

Having had the kit for over a couple of years, I would categorize it as a "must-have."

With a two drill combo like your considering, you would be a formidable force in the drill dept. with the Centrotec set.

Argh.  They won't (aren't allowed to by Festool) ship to the US.  Anyone know if a US dealer still has any?  Would love to get one for my new T15.

cheers.

I suggest you get 2-3 people together and find an on-shipping company from UK - I do it all the time in reverse - from US to UK. Cheapest place I found here in the UK are: http://www.slingers1858.co.uk/Bit-boxes-and-sets/ and http://www.powertoolsgb.co.uk/cgi-bin/ecom.cgi?Command=ShowProduct&db_pid=25537 - they don't ship internationally but I'm sure a firm will freight forward..
