Centrotec Kit ships tomorrow, but what about replacing drill bits in the future?

Looking forward to getting my new Centrotec set, but thinking ahead, they are not currently making the drill bits available to replace bits down the road. I guess you could replace with Centrotec Metric brad points that are close. Wish they came in the drill bit with reusable shank, so you could replace the actual bit in a Centrotec shank. Maybe they will have these bits as replaceable parts under the ekat system.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

While not a guarantee, the service department usually has some spares in case you damage or lose a bit.

Thank you Shane, Good to know there may be a replacement available.

I think that's a pretty poor show on Festool's part actually - a drill bit isn't a 'spare part'. It's a consumable, and should have the availability as such.

IMHO.  [big grin]

I am not even able to come with terms with how much you spend on this kit and you may not even be able to replace broken/worn out bits?  Seriously??

How about we get an official answer from [member=57769]TylerC[/member] before this thread goes much further...

That's a good one, and I don't know off-hand. I've reached out for an answer and hopefully will have one by morning.

Is this just a Festool US issue?

I'm blindly under the impression that I can replace anything and have purchased tons of Centrotec stuff very easily to date.

You can get the Metric brad point bits, The Imperial version are not listed. Looking to hear from Tyler on a response. Thanks Tyler! Would be great if they carried that line here in the US sold as individuals. They used to sell a set for $125, but if you only need to replace the 1/8" because you are not careful, that would get too costly.

My installers set came with extra bits. One of mine do need a bit of sharpening.

Hi Tyler; is there any chance that we will get a definitive answer to the question about the availability of replacements for damaged imperial brad points? Many of us would like to know for sure before purchasing the installers set.

Thanks

I checked on this...

According to Festool's service department the Centrotec Set has limited availability and likewise replacement bits will have limited availability.

Basically what I had said before.
