Centrotec Set in Attic Systainer

Just received my new Centrotec Zobo set and did a little modifying to fit in some extra items in an organized fashion. Purchased a Sys 2 with lid storage from Lee Valley and swapped the lid over to the Centrotec Sys 1.  I added some of the sheet foam that LV is selling and fitted my drill bits in the lid.  Everything closes properly with the inside of the lid pressing down just a bit on the plastic organizer insert.  Putting the cardboard interior lid cover in did make it feel a bit too tight so I left it out.   Thanks to others on the board for the ideas I borrowed.

My only disappointment is that the set only includes the one smaller countersink bit though both sizes are listed as being part of the set the Festool website.  Centrotec Countersink Bit 5-15mm Diameter, 492541 (1) is listed as being included and is not, nor is there an empty bit slot in the box.  Perhaps this should be updated on the web as this represents another $45.00 to purchase separately(in Canada).

I don't think I have the ability to post pictures or links to them yet.  This would have been a better first post with some images.  :)
Pictures attached per instructions, Thanks!

Hi Lars,

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

With under five posts you can attach images but not link to them. Spam reduction tactic.

Would love to see some pictures. Try this ............................

1. Open a topic starting page or click 'modify' for an existing post.

2. Click 'Additional Options' towards the lower left.

3. Next to the 'Browse' button keep clicking 'more attachments' until you have enough.

4. Click 'Browse' and open/add an image file from your computer to each browse box.

5. Type your post. At points in the post where you want an image, click 'attach image as full size' from the Insert Inline Image dropdown.  Doing that will place the image in that spot in the post when you actually make the post. Do this for each spot that you want an image. The system will place them in the order of the browse boxes automatically. If you want to choose the order simply change '#' to the number (just count the boxes) of the image you want in that spot. Otherwise just leave '#' in each one.

Do you have a smart phone?  If you do, get the Tapatalk app.  Very easy to insert pics with it.

Hi Lars,

Regarding the second countersink, I think it's a mistake that's been copied over from the European contents where it is indeed part of the set. In North America, I think it's excluded because it is part of the imperial drill bit set so you would have it if you ordered that instead of the Zobo set.

Just speculating.

Welcome to the FOG by the way.

      There we go.  Updated.

      Very nice   [smile]

Being a recent buyer myself I had two initial thoughts  [unsure]

The hand driver area sure wastes a lot of space.  I'll post back when I mod mine.

First try with the Countersink left a nice little ring on some Alder from the depth stop?

Lars, nice.

Getting more into the Centrotec set  [thumbs up]

Nice modifications.

Curious about the bit set you put into the lid...  Was that a set that you purchased separately or did you have to buy those bits individually?  Metric or Imperial?

Thanks for sharing -

neil

Those were all purchased separately and are all metric.  Brad point on the left and spiral bits on the right.  Most of my other tools seem to have metric grads and trying to work with a mix seems to result in a few mistakes. I already have a pretty good selection of HSS Imperial bits and may find a way to package them in a systainer with some other drilling accessories just to get organized, for the most part they won't get used unless something requires an imperial hole though.

I see you used the attic latch alert modification   [big grin]  [thumbs up]

Tried several (unsuccessful) searches to find the 'attic latch alert modification' - can you please provide a link?

I wish I had that alert latch on my CXS systainers attic latch the other week... It was left open and I moved it at night and the whole family woke up to the jingling on screws, drill bits and drills flying all over the floor  [embarassed]

I did the opposite on mine - instead of colouring the top of the tab, I filled the recessed 'lock' icon with red nail varnish. I could have done with a brighter red, but this was the lightest red my other half had...

I did it this way as I thought that with colour on top of the tab, it may wear off over time sliding it in & out (I don't know whether it does or not - have you found that Seth?).

Jonathan

It is just colored with a red permanent marker. But here is a link ..................................

I thought it might wear off too, but after at least a couple  hundred openings/closings none has worn off. I took a close look and it doesn't look like the tab actually touches against the top when sliding.

Seth

How did you get the drill bits to fit so perfectly in the attic foam?  Very slick.
