Hi guys, long time no post.

Ive been thinking of making a nice storage space for my blades, I have a few designs in my head but just thought I would check in and see how you guys store your blades. Maybe you might also have some unique ideas for storage to.

My work shop has a very low ceiling so I was thing of making some kind of drop down system for the blades and push sticks.

So, Any ideas ???

if you search there was a thread about this the other day

Ok did the search but there is only storage solutions there for systainers. I should have posted im talking about my sliding table saw.

i dont like storeing blades and such out in the open like that. there is too much chance of hitting them or knocking them. i have a cabinet under the wing of my saw that the blades go in along with tools and accesories for the saw. they sit on shelfs in there.
you say you have a low ceiling. are the joists exposed . if so you could make a ply box the width of the joists and long enough to come down to 4 feet. you could have dividers set in at an angle so the balde has a little slot to slide into . by storeing them at a slight angle you will have full acess to all the blades. The ceiling in the workshop is concrete so i would have to build a storage unit and use some bolts to tie it in. Im liking the slotted designs and i came across this click this PDF. I like the idea of droping the blades in a cartridge and then sliding it into the slots. I could then just label the fronts to see what blade I need.

This is my version that provides storage for more than just blades.
Maximum blade diameter is 400mm.  I used a 1-5/16" hole saw for the button to go through the bore which was just perfect for a 30mm hole.

Steve  Again awesome job, I like the drawer setup alot, might have to copy your thoughts for sure

Steve that is what im talking about, perfect. Think I will do something similar but just have it above the table saw. Floor space is something I have very little of.

Thanks guys,
Wayne - I made the height of the cabinet so that it will slide under the saw extension table.  This way, I didn't consume anymore floor space than was already used.

thats a beautiful job steve!

thanks for sharing the photos.

i will be making something similar based on your photo's.

regards, justin.

I find Ikea Kalas plates (set of 6 for AU$2.00) an idea size for 160mm blades. Both for storing a stack of blades together, and also for soaking in blade cleaner.

I recently made a blade storage box for my SawStop table saw.  It mounts under the extension wing.

While most of the blades are 10" for the table saw, I have put my rip blade for my TS75 in it as well :-)

They’re $2 for six in the US too! One is of us getting a better deal?

I like it...how does it mount to the SawStop?

Thanks.  The extension table (w/ black top) has a wooden grid support structure.  I screwed two layers of 3/4" birch plywood to that .  Then screwed the saw blade box to that.  This allowed the box to be below the front rails and inset enough to not be in the way, but still accessible.

This picture shows it a little better.

Bob, that is a great idea and a nice execution.  If you don’t mind, I am going to build one just like it !

Thank you for posting the pictures....

I don't mind at all, glad you found it useful.  It is loosely based on a few designs I found on the internet.

If you, or anyone else, is interested in some additional pictures, PM me with an email address.
